AXIS, AXIS SPORT, or AXIS SUPER SPORT? Differences if any. THAT IS THE QUESTION!!! I've played an olp MM1 kinda liked it. Is it the same or not? There are no Music Man guitars to compare in my area and I appreciate all the help I can get.
 
Well for starters there is no Sport anymore, and an OLP MM1 is just that an OLP not a MusicMan there's some DRASTIC (obviously in favor of the MM) differences...if you want an axe with a floyd get the Axis, if you don't get the SuperSport...
 
The OLP is related to the Axis only in that it is shaped something like one. There is really no other comparison; the necks are radically different, the hardware and woods on the Axis are top flight while the Chinese-made OLP has parts typical of it's price point, and the OLP is not made by Ernie Ball Music Man. Basically, you get what you pay for when you buy an OLP. And of course, you get much more than you pay for when you buy an Axis ;)

As to which Axis you should get, just decide what features are important to you, and chances are there's a model that will suit you. Although the Axis Sport has been discontinued for a few years, you can still find NOS Sport in stores around the country, so you should really start with a wish list and work from there....
 
OLPs are cool for the buck, but they do not compare.

OLPs are licensed to imitate the Music Man headstock only. They also happen to have Ernie Ball strings. That's it.

Playing an OLP ironically is what made me question the Music Man guitar. Iwas suddenly interested and had to find out more, and find some to play.
You've got to try one to believe it.
