Hi Folks,

I've been waiting patiently for my Bongo ordered since Dec. 07 and in the meantime I am searching for a decent rig to go along with it. I know that most here would suggest MarkBass, but I feel that they are too pricey for me, personally. I know that they may be worth every penny, but for right now they are a little out of my budget. Likewise, they are not carried locally in my area so I cannot hear them before ordering.

I am looking at the Gallien Krueger 700 - II head and the 210RBH cabinet combination. Are there EBMM bass players using this setup? Is it a great combination for getting back into the swing of things?

Again, the Neo series from GK are great as well.

Just like some comments for those who are using a similar setup.

Thanks in advance,

Shepp...

Welcome!

I'd say go with the GK. They're great amps and the only reason I sold my 1001 is because I was in a tight money spot and my MarkBass Little Mark II is getting the job done. The RBH cabs are great with thunderous low end. They're really really aggressive though. The Neo series cabinets have a great fundamental bottom end with clear highs. You won't go wrong with either. :)

I 2nd GK. I have a 1001RB-II and Neo 412, and it is amazing. The only thing is, I may go with a Fusion 550 when they come out, just to add a bit of warmth to the already nice GK sound.

GKs are good. Id say a bit overpriced today and not far as good as back in the day. Best buy would be a used gk400rb amp, light, roadworthy, and durable. Any cab will probably make due with this head, be it a 2 10s, 1 15, 4 10s or 2 15s. My personal fav for this head, 2 15s. Cant go wrong. You can probably have a great rig for 350 400 bucs.
