WOW this thing is nuts. I love the extra pick up and all the tones I can get. I've barely used her at all but i thought you guys should know!!! It looks great too. Here are some pics that Steve/Dude took.

P.S. Today I got my drivers license today too, so it was pretty much the greatest day ever!!!!

P.P.S. If somebody could post some of these pics on this thread that'd be great. I don't know how.

That bass just exudes the "My bass can kick your bass' Azz" theory. Any way that is how I am seeing it.

Enjoy that for a long time.

Thats really nice. I think HS sterlings are the way to go, rather than HH sterlings, but both are great im sure.

I'll be posting pics of a Buttercream SR5 HS later tonight as well.

Would that happen to be my honey/baby you're talkin' about? Let's see her Dude, in all her glory. :D :D :D

Wonder how many of these exists?

Actually, the one of two identical ones I shot yesterday was Tom F's and not yours.

UPS picked up both a few hours ago.

Wow, maybe I should gone for an SR5, haha, on second thought I love my new baby too much. I just have to come up with a good name for it now. Hmmm that's gonna be tough.

A couple questions tho.
1. Should I restring the bass, what strings came on it from the factory?
2. I never was great at tapping, but with the new bass I'd like to try to get batter, any tips for technique or tone settings? (I want to be able to play the Stu Hamm/Alva star spangled banner for real)
3. I'm thinking about installing a brigde mute. I really like them and becaause I play in a string enseble it would cut the sustain and help out a lot. Is there any reason not to do this?
4. My case (special edition for bc models) scratches really easily, besides being careful is there a remedy for this?

Please assist me with your wealth of knowledge.

THANKS,

MIKE

That has Ernie Ball Super Slinky Bass strings, gauges 45-65-80-100. Should you restring it? I like the Slinkys but there are an awful lot of string choices out there..only you know what makes you happy.

Tapping? Someone will come along but it won't be me! (I suck.)

Mutes - I've fooled around with it some, and the easiest way to see if it really works for you is to stick a piece of foam under the strings near the bridge. I think Jason (bassmonkee) installed some wild-ass mute system on one of his Bongos...you might ask him.

I think those cases are almost as sexy as the bass itself, but it IS a case. Someone I know, and I'm not naming names, put the LE case away and uses a different (older, uglier) case to transport the bass.

yeah, i was contemplating throwing 100 bucks at one of those new-fangled 3 way bridge mutes, thet are so classy, well, maybe not more so than a piece of foam. :)

2: Drop Alvabass a mail, he's most helpful and answers all the stupid questions, sends example files and generally acts as a real mensch!
@Alva: Working on it, man, but it's not going well:D

:D :D :)

Hey guys, just found this thread but I'm leaving now. I'll check the posts carefully at night (and thank you for the nice comments! :) ).
