You're right. Diamond plate was not meant for Stingrays. It was made for SUBs

From the looks of the grain and finish on the back of the bass, I think this was a terrible thing to do. I bet the finish on the front side looked stunning. Now there's this, pardon my hip, new lingo, fugly metal plate masking the whole thing. So sad...
