wonder wipes & maple fretboard

I just received some wonder wipes but I've been told on the french forum to not use it with my maple fretboard...

any advices? :confused:
 
Yup, advice from Bavaria... ;)

I have 3 Balls with maple fretboards (the two Silo Specs & the ASS) and I use my Wonder Wipies fretboard conditioner on all of them - fretboard AND neck!
Works fine, feels great, no optical or whatever issues here. :)

I'd say: go for it.

Anyone has different experiences here ?!

I've used it on Trev's AL - works beautifully. Just leave it on for about 10 minutes then wipe off - as it won't soak into maple. I believe that's also the advice from Derek et. al. when asked.

They're wonderful :) And like Axilla says, they're good on the back of the neck too.
 
Hi Tristan,

Here's my own conclusion for my own guitars... not saying it's right for others.

1. It works great on rosewood boards. Rosewood doesn't need over-conditioning, so I don't use it often.

2. It does clean/condition/seal maple, safely (makes it look pretty too). However, because the wipes are so generously saturated, it leaves too much material on the maple for my taste, giving it too much of a waxy feeling, especially on the back of the neck. I like the natural wood feeling more than a waxy feeling. The waxy feeling is easy to remedy because WW material is water soluble, and so wiping the neck down with a slightly damp cloth after it's dried from the WW, does the job for me. But I won't be using them often, as with every string change.
 
does anyone else keep their fingerboards filthy? I took me years to get the mojo in them :D the body is another story though...
 
juste applied it on the back of the black silo and the luke...smells so good :)

My kid says he wants a maple board Ball, so the neck could get grungy and experienced looking. So I guess you're not alone.

Hey, whatever you want, man. It's your guitar. Personally, I don't favor the look myself. When I got my Silo Spec with maple, I went at it hard with 3 or 4 WWs to get rid of that stuff.

Yeah...since I got mine used, all that gunk on the neck seemed like it was someone else's tone. I don't know where he got it from. I don't know what went into it. I don't know what he scratched to get it. So, it had to come off. Just the thought. Yuck.
 
Well, I don't know if they'll take of anything that's already worked into the wood. Fine sand paper or steel wool might be more appropriate. If it's just on the surface of the wood, no problem.
