I placed an order for a new MM Stingray 5 today! Got a pretty killer price on it, too, which is surprising considering this particular shop usually tries to gouge you. Anyway, I digress..

I should probably introduce myself, I'm from NS, Canada, I've been playing electric bass for a number of years (I'm a drummer on the side, but that doesnt count - They're not really musicians :D).

I've got a pretty small collection, now;

Spector NS2000/Q4
Ibanez SR800
Riverhead Unicorn Headless
SX fretless J

...into an SVT 410 rig.

Anyway, my SR5 should be here within a few weeks - It's sunburst, with a rosewood board and a black p/g! I cant wait. Gonna be my first 5 string... SR5's are seriously the only 5ers that I've ever liked enough to shell out the dough for, and I've tried a ton.

Anything I should know about the basses before I get it? Do I need to do anything funky with the setup (like a Ric 4001)?

The only funky thing I had to do when I got my first MM bass was plug and play! I'd never been able to do that before. :)

Welcome Joshbrake!

The only thing you need to know is set it all flat and make your adjustments from there. You might just find that's all you need to do.

that's how i run my spector, anyhow. it's got a 2 band EMG pre in it.... flat with a little bump in the lows.

As soon as I get off the phone with Mr. Hartke!
I just talked to Larry Hartke today......Really nice guy, I talked to him for a while about music and gear related stuff. I called him first and got his voicemail and he actually called me back. I now have " Lawerence Hartke" on my caller ID. Rad....:D

You know I have a little Hartke A35 as my practice amp and REALLY dig that percussive sound. Great little amp.

thats awesome man, is it MusicStop you bought it at? I know their all over Atlantic Canada, I love the one here in Newfoundland the only spot to buy MM's

yup! i dont usually like dealing with musicstop because their prices are pretty steep most of the time, but this one was in stock in the moncton store, so i had them send it down here - i'm actually getting it for around 1500 and tax.
