I just started learning to play guitar after years of playing drums. My "starter" guitar is a Laguna. My guitar playing friend tried it out and said it was OK.
I had it set up with Cobalt strings and even I can tell how much better my guitar sounds. My friend came over to test it out, 2 hours later I had to fight with him to get my toy back. He was amazed at the wider frequency response and the fluidity of the strings when bending. You now have another customer.
As for myself, I'm learning some Neal Schon tunes and bend the heck out of those strings. After a couple of hours of bending 1 to 1 1/2 frets I put my tuner on to check the strings and they were still SPOT ON !!!
