That was great! You really have it down. That is one of his better 'deth solos.

That's awesome. Marty's solos are always fun to play, very innovative and creative player, gets you re-thinking about vibrato and bending!
 
Man, I really need to make more time for playing but my gluttony for work always challenges me during these months. Busy getting things ready for Jan. Been a Marty fan since the Cacophony days. I think he's probably one of the most underrated guitar players around. I used to gig with a guy who had a side project with Marty called The C@cks of Doom. He gave me an old VHS tape of them playing in some little club because I thought he was yanking my chain. Lol,

Do you do anything off of Scenes? If so, I'd like to request Tibet/Angel.
 
Rejo, Scenes is so sweet. Valley of Eternity is such a fantastic composition. Those first two solo albums of his are two of my favorite musical works because he used to write with such rich textures and layering over ever-progressing compositions. Sometimes I think that Megadeth robbed us of more Marty Friedman than it gave us, because he never produced another album of compositions like his first two ever since (I like most of his solo albums, but the modes of writing changed). And Megadeth sure didn't let him shine more than 30 seconds a track. Marty has more musical/artistic talent than the rest of the guys in Megadeth combined.

Funny, for being such a huge metal lead guitarist- probably only the 2nd most popular of the 90's after Slash- I have to agree with you. Despite having sold 5-10 million albums, he will always be underrated as long as there are people who still think Slash is the greatest guitar player. Slash and Lenny Kravitz...

If you couldn't tell, I likes me some Marty Friedman! Marty, Uli, and Morse!
 
Well, in his Megadeth days he did 3 fantastic solo albums...Scenes, Introduction and True Obsessions...all of them very different.

Nowadays Marty is back on "heavy music", and while I love his last album "Inferno" I really think the melodic records were what set him one big step above the rest...

I don't know those ones - will have to check 'em out! The last one I bought was 'Loud' I can't remember the name of the CD. I remember it had this fantastic melodic tune called Devil Take Tomorrow though...such a cool melody!

I did not find Introduction or True Obsessions on the same level as Scenes or Dragon's Kiss. They still have really strong central melodies, but the grand nature of the compositions, the layering, the depth... I don't know, these things have all been missing after Scenes. Where scenes would have a main melody with some counterpointing lines, Introduction would lean heavily on the single guitar melody. The harmonies and compositions were not as rich, even though the individual guitar lines still have that Friedman flare.
