Y2d Pickup Questions

Hi All,
First question why are the Y2D pickups set so low? Ive noticed that the single coil pickup is set at a strange angle and when in the middle pickup position is barely audible. I did try raising all pickups and it started to get noisy.. im assuming these are just really hot pickups. That leads me too my next question....

What dimarzio pickups are the Y2D pickups close or equal too? Anyone have any information on what the heights need to be for these?

The pickups have very high output and Steve Morse likes 'em right where they are. That's why they're that low.. really!

The single seems so much quieter in the middle position because you are hearing it all by itself in that position. Every other Y2D switch position employs at least one humbucker.

Watch Morse play sometime... he's got his pinky on the volume pot VERY often! His volume pots see as much action as his strings!

The other thing to keep in mind is that just about any single coil pickup is going to be much quieter than a humbucker. There's going to be a volume drop between those pickups.

Embrace it- it's a way to clean up your sound simply by switching pickups w/o having to much with the vol control much. You'll see Steve doing this a lot too.
