It's for a church, but still, it's a GIG!!!
I auditioned last night and got the spot for Bass, I start practice in 2 weeks, just 1 week before my DD HH Sterling arrives. :D
It's okie dokie, I will drudge on with my Warwick vette. :(

Sorry rambling on here, attaching an Exchange server to a SANS and only had 3 hours of sleep under my belt. :p

Now to look for a local band to try out for. ;)

congrats dude

Play it well, you will always remember your first gig:D

Awesome....it doesn't matter who, what, where....you have a gig. It is your first one so practice good and hard and it will be a cake walk.

Let us know how it goes.

That's great!
You are totally going to get off on that.
Let us know how it goes.

p.s. please tell Calvin to stop throwing that Dargie around. It's making me nervous. :p

I'm 56 and have played a lot of gigs, but nothing was is rewarding or satisfying than playing in Church........

Congrats.............. Ole Man Blues:)

Congratulations on your first gig!

I remember my first gig… well… it’ll come back to me.

But I do remember my first church gig! It was a tent revival on a hot summer night… oh yeah, don’t bring any beer, I’m just saying.

Congrats on your new bass too! :D

Yeah, no beer.
Though they did seem to frown when I played the bassline from Highway to Hell.

My wife was laughing about my new bass being used in the church cause of the inlays on the Sterling DD that I will be playing.
I told her I would just tell them those are 'Shirley Temple' Inlays. :p

Congrats!!! Nothing more exciting than your first gig! :D Enjoy! Enjoy!

Wish I could remember mine but at my age the only thing I remember is .... What was I going to say?:o

Gratz on your first gig!:)

No matter how many gigs I do, I still love it! Even if I didn't get paid, I'd do it for free. (please don't ever repeat that in public).

Possibly the best hobby ever. Hope you have a great gig. Let us know how it goes. :)

Congrats on the gig! Make sure you have everything you need for the gig. Even things you MIGHT need. Something as simple as a power strip or an extra tuner can save your life (or at least your position in the band). Just make sure to be overly prepared (with your practicing AND your gear) and you'll do just fine!

Congrats.

As long as I live, I'll never forget the first time I played in front of people. Hope your gig turns out better.

Excellent! My *2nd* phase as a Bass Player started with me playing in church. No apologies necessary - it's steady, charitable work!

It's for a church, but still, it's a GIG!!!

Congratulations man!!! I really hope you will appreciate the gig for what it is on a deeper level than worrying about the beer, or getting paid for that matter. Payment is not always in the form of "greenbacks" I can assure you that.
Good luck and just be well prepared so you can be more relaxed when it all goes down;)

Awesome Frax!!!!!

and like that which has already been stated, church IS a gig, a bit weirder gig if anything. Not only do you have to focus on playing well(as is the case anywhere) but there's also that wonderful "don't quite know how to explain or quantify it but it's there" spiritual side of the gig, very fulfilling to say the least! [and then dealing with the odd "Lord love 'em" putz who will no doubt comment on the martini inlays]

And good luck with the local gig as well, more settings to play in means more gooder playing! :D

Thanx all.
Yeah my church is pretty large, and young in the sense of the church's direction.
It is non denominational so no politics or hiearchy to follow or answer to when it comes to the song planning.
So they play very progressive christan rock.
The pastor loves rock and roll. ;)

I am so excited, and so is the rhythm guitarist who is tired of doing it for the last 2 months. :D

Yeah, no beer.
My wife was laughing about my new bass being used in the church cause of the inlays on the Sterling DD that I will be playing.
I told her I would just tell them those are 'Shirley Temple' Inlays. :p

Or you could pawn them off for communion goblets .. :D
Congratulations man!!
