But I haven't picked it up yet.... just wondering though guys, what gauge is the b string which comes with the petrucci? and any gauge recomendations? I would like a standard 10 gauge if possible. Maybe thicker.

Exactly, The Pet 7 string comes with 10's, making the low B string a .56.

Blah 10s :) I'm a crummy player. How does the JP7 perform with .009 sets?

*impatiently waits for his JP7 to ship* :)

Cool! Hey guys, if I wanted to check out what .11s string tension would be like, could I just tune up my 10s by half a step? I'm debating if 11s would sound better?

I've got 9s on my JP6. I like it A LOT better than with the 10s. In fact, I thought I read somewhere that JP himself had gone back to using 9s on his 6 & 7s, when he is tuned to standard pitch. Might have been on his website's forum, I don't remember exactly. What I like best about the change is the more "loose" feel of the trem with the 9s. And it was just easier for a hobbyist guy like me to play. :o
