Yngwie's Classical DVD

Just picked up and watched 1/2 of this CONCERTO Yngwie wrote for electric guitar and orchestra.

Damn!!

I've had the cd from that show for 2 years and really like it, but the DVD is MAGIC.

First time I've seen him play and I think it's brilliant stuff. His guitar work is great and the other stuff he wrote for the orchestra supports the guitar with beauty, depth and color. The camera work is also fantastic. Really shows his economy of motion.

If you're a fan of classical music but wished there was some space for electric guitar in it, pick up this DVD. He also does some wonderful acoustic playing on this that is some of the best stuff on it.

I'd attend a performance of this in a second. Really exciting music.

i allways liked his style, tone, and music
a friend of mine owns a malmsteen sig guitar which imho is prob one of the better fender guitar. it is really easy to play

I have a Yngwie DVD, thats from Bulgaria or somewhere, and its pure Spinal Tap! I especially enjoy the 4 stock Yngwie moves

1 - The pick toss
2 - The high kick
3 - The guitar swung round the neck
4 - The hand 'claw' motion

Maybe on this DVD, Yngwie dispenses with theatrics and just concentrates on playing!

Well I've watched the rest of it and I'm honestly in awe.

He also plays 3 of his other compositions with the orchestra but I think they pale in comparison to the concerto. He does a few moves, but mostly he's really concentrating on the music.

Let's put it this way, Morse has been my favorite player forever and still is...but I'll be watching this DVD a lot more than the Dixe Dregs Montraeux concert. The music really was inspired, and there's like 75 other musicians adding texture.

I admit I'm not big on Yngwie's other stuff. This is on a whole 'nuther level.

From what I understand, this is a fairly recent pic of him now that he's lost some weight - perhaps taken at NAMM this year...

In any case, the word is that he's dropped 40-50 lbs. I'll see him on Dec. 5th here at a local venue.

The gig was filmed in 2000 or 2001. He was kinda large. Unimportant in the scheme of things. Seemed to have really fat fingers, though.
