I saw that you were looking for some GK sound clips. While I cant do any specific ones right now, I think Im going to be able to help you out.

Ive been working on a couple projects that I got a call for a while back.

Im going to call the studio engineer, and see if he will get me the three or four rough mixes he has with my GK rig recorded. Ill burn em and mail you a CD when he gets em to me.

I find that I like standard tuning a bit better.....

It's probably just because I've been tuning to standard tuning for 20 years, and I've been tuning to Eb for about 3 weeks.
 
I just about had a religious experience at my gig tonight after using my new 1001RB-II for the first time. :D My SR4 has never sounded so good!

I am sooo tempted to sell off my B2R and 700RB for a 1001RB-II head!

I could just use my 410BLX-II and one 115BLX-II cab with that, instead of lugging half a bass dept's worth of stuff with me...although the reactions when I set up are photo-worthy! :eek: :D

Tuning down can be rubberband city for the bass player.

I read elsewhere that when you have two cabs with the same ohm rating, but different power handling ratings, the majority of the power is distributed to the higher-rated cab...yes/no?

In regards to overpowering the cab, isn't the prefered power ratio supposed to be around 2:1, so as not to clip (thereby frying your voice coils)?

BTW ~ I love getting back to real discussions. ;)

Yeah but GK's seem to have little more juice than something like an SWR with a similar power rating so I would be careful.I've seen 800RB's wreak havoc on Hartke cabs before. If you double the power of the cab you will get a cleaner sound with less work out of the amp but if you turn it up too loud you can still blow your speaker or fry a voice coil.You just have to watch your volume and EQ.It's still better than being underpowered and trying to turn your amp up louder than it can go. That's and instant recipe for square wave speaker damage:eek:
