My lovely (and incredibly tolerant) wife of 20 years is away on a business trip, so naturally, the first thing I did was set up all the Loud Stuff in the middle of the living room, and I've been having sex with my Bongo for three days straight.
Good GHOD, I love this bass.
Then, last night I visited an old friend who is just taking up guitar at age 50-ish. Made me reminisce about the twisted, tortured path that got me where I am.
I've been through a pile of basses and another pile of amps, spending years (YEARS, mind you) searching for the gear that would give me the tone in my head.
I first picked up a bass in 1979 or thereabouts, and it wasn't until I got Da Bongo that I finally found what I was looking for. That was last year. It took 26 years to find the right answer.
That's longer than a lot of you have been alive. Dr. Stankface, Tiffles, and all of you who are still young, REJOICE that you have found such a FINE instrument so early in your life! Spend your energy playing and having a BLAST, not searching for "better" tone. It doesn't exist.
Life is REAL, REAL good!
