I must admit I had never been into the Luke models. Played a few, but never considered adding one to the collection. Then the LIII came out and it got my attention. So last saturday I took the time to try one out. I found this great guitarshop where they carried a variety of LIII's: HH, HSS, Rosewood, roasted, you name it. Two things were clear at the start: It was going to be a HH with roasted neck. The neck felt great, the V-profile is present but not pronounced and I like it a lot. Floating vintage trem works like a charm. Yes, that was the one to get. I wasn't sure on which color I should get in advance, but the Emerald Green Sparkle had an edge. Once I saw it in real life, there was no more doubt and I took that beauty home.
Played it the last few days, wow! Had to get used to the pickups, since I'm mainly accustomed to the Axis pickups. They are different, but sound great. One more thing before I post some (lousy) pics: The boost is awesome!! It really gives the guitar an extra dimension, love it.
Ok, some pics with poor lighting, but you get the idea.
Perfect addition to my collection and great alternative to a Petrucci (had one, loved the trem but couldn't really get along with the neck).
