It's not a problem, it's just the way that it is designed.
The modification I came up with just re-routs the preamp signal through the VR to give more control over the output and lessen the harshness that some people don't care for.

I just picked up this beauty and I should have it later this week. Has the volume issue been fixed with the new shipments, or will I need to do that fix?

Wow....REALLY old reply so my bad there, but this is a 3 knob Glockenklang so it's got an active/passive push/pull volume knob on top, middle is a full sweep allowing for all split P or all MM, or any blend there in the middle. It has a center dent which is helpful. On the bottom it's a stacked treble/bass tone knob.

This has become my #1 show bass and I absolutely love it. It was so worth the investment and the SUB bass is a great platform to build on. Knowing that I was going to do a lot of customization on this project, it made the most sense to start with the SUB as an inexpensive bass to cut up instead of a Stingray or a Ray34.
