New Marshall Amps...

<div class="bbWrapper">Ok, heres the deal. I am a huge Marshall fan and I need a new Marshall amp for this summers gigging. Used for rock and needs to be at least 75w. <div class="bbWrapper">All you&#039;d really need is a 50 watt tube head and a cab. Get the DSL 50watt head and run it thru a 1960 straight front 4x12. That&#039;d be a kickin&#039; setup for a young guitar jedi.</div>

<div class="bbWrapper">I don&#039;t mean to offend any Marshall fans out there, but I don&#039;t think Marshall makes anything worth getting anymore. Don&#039;t get me wrong, the old Marshall&#039;s sounded great, but thier new stuff just sucks. <br /> <br /> I think that some of the best &quot;Marshall&quot; tones are coming out of boutique amps. My lead guitar player had a Germino Rockgrinder that had the old Hot Rod Plexi tone down perfect. He has since got a Straub Cantus head. Let me tell you, this head can nail everything from Hendrix to Van Halen 1. It is awesome. All hand soldered point to point like the original Marshalls. All top of the line transformers and rectifiers. The guy will build it however you want it too. The thing I couldn&#039;t believe was the price! Tom said he paid about 1200 bucks for the thing. It&#039;s handmade, and the cabinet is made from striped African Mahogany. <div class="bbWrapper">I happen to play a Marshall DSL 100 watt with a 1960&#039;s slant lead cab. I get great tone and have no problems with it. However, I had to try several of them to find the one I liked. Like guitars, in my opinion, each amp has its own unique personality. I tried a bunch of amps and this is the one I liked and bought it. <br /> <br /> To some extent, Nobozos is right. Some of the stuff Marshall has put out is garbage. The Mode 4 is not worth the money in my opinion. I am really picky about my gear and I get everything I want with mine. We all have opinions and I respect his. Many Marshall guys/gals will probably be offended by his comment. Not I. Good for you bro. <br /> <br /> I saw dudes site on building amps. Very nice. Perhaps had I known that, I might have gotten one. <br /> <br /> Bottom line....test drive each amp that you come across. You might find that diamond in the rough that is not a Marshall. See if your local store has a &quot;quiet&quot; room so you and only you can hear all what the amp has to offer. Nothing is worse than trying out an amp with some punk kid next to you with the amp cranked making nothing but noise thinking he is sounding great. That hard part is to pick the one that fits you, not the name. I love Mesa&#039;s, but I could not find the one that fit me. Marshall it is.
