Welcome to Day 19 of my annual New Year's New Guitar Days (NYNGD)!

Thanks for the kind words and comments on NYNGD #2018-18!

AND THEN THERE WERE TWO! This is the second to last guitar in this year's run, and, again, this guitar could have just as easily earned the top spot as the Grand Finale[SUP]TM[/SUP]!

Today's NYNGD is another very special one-off -- this time a Luke III BFR. She has a claro curly walnut top with a black burst finish, a mahogany back with the trans black from the blackburst, one of the best roasted maple necks ever, an ebony fretboard without dots, and chrome hardware.

I love how the flame of the claro walnut is bookmatched in a "V" shape. I also love how the black burst hides the edges of the walnut (sometimes I like these LIII's where you can see the top and the line where it transitions to the back, but other times it's too much and this black burst makes it way classier. The ebony fretboard without dots is so clean and minimalist.

This is another great sounding EBMM -- I know, I sound like a broken record. This guy doesn't sound much different than most of my LIII's, but that's fine by me! Just a great workhorse Luke that gets the job done and gets subtle comments (whereas some of the AAAAA top BFRs get fellow guitarists ogling and making a big deal, this one is just like, "Pretty sweet guitar, man."), but if you're an EBMM fan you know this is super special.

This is definitely a Top 2 guitar and could even be #1, right? Curious to see what the Grand Finale[SUP]TM[/SUP] will be? I'll be back in the next few days with the final NYNGD: New Year's New Guitar Day for 2018! Thanks for looking everyone!

(The back story in case you're new to my NYNGD: For the past couple of years I've done a fun thing that most of you I think enjoyed, and I thought I would do it again this year. Every year, I am a slacker about keeping my Guitar Gallery up to date... So, as a fun holiday thing, let's launch a guitar in the Guitar Gallery each day leading up to New Years Eve! In the past I've received PM's about my collection and whether I play all of these guitars. :) The same question came up during my NYNGD posts a few years ago and my answer was pretty detailed and well thought-out, so please check it out here!)

(Also, in case anybody gets any funny ideas -- these guitars are not at my house. They are all in my very secure and alarmed studio facility. I usually only have two guitars floating around the house...)
