I know it sounds funny, but in the music biz where stage image is everything, it's a no-no. I'm just relaying from experience.

BP doesn't count, he's already succesful, rules the roost, and writes the paychecks, not the other way around.

I'm sorry, but that's just ridiculous.

Something tells me that the demographic that Larry is playing to could give a crap about his feet.

I've been playing out live for just under 20 years. I've never once not been asked back, nor told in advance, "We like the band, but you guys are wearing sandals. So, no gig."

It's not like he showed up to play the Grammys in flip flops....

What would you suggest? Wingtips?

Most cover bands dress better than the original band did. :D

RHCP for example.

He asked for a photo opinion, and I gave him my sideman-experienced answer, I didnt care what the demographic is. I'm sorry you didn't like what I had to say. And I've been playin bass out for 18yrs too, sax a couple years before that.

#2 is pretty cool; You have too much of a "bass face" going on in #1.

BTW, you should try an original idea:

Get a picture of you wearing nothing but your bass, a cowboy hat, underwear, and cowboy boots.

It'll be controversial, and timeless.

It's really not unusual for the lead singer, one of the guitar players and me to all be wearing flip-flops at an outdoor gig. Of course, the majority of the audience is wearing sandals of some sort too.

It's no big deal around here. Sandals are de rigeur around here all but about 3-4 months out of the year.

Heh. We're cool. Something tells me the climate might have something to do with it. I have a hunch that Seattle and Texas/Georgia don't exactly have the same weather patterns, or universally accepted footwear. :D

At least you didn't tell him to tuck in his shirt. ;)

Hell, there's even times that we wear shorts and t-shirts with our sandals!

Everyone would think you were an idiot if you showed up dressed any other way during an outdoor day gig during the summer around here. Im sure it's the same way in Georgia too.

#2 is way cooler than #1. Like the Simpson's animators, I'm not a huge fan of straight-on shots. I also think guitars looks better from an slight angle, than straight-on.

I voted for number 1 because number 2 is ... well we know what number 2 is.

Butt seriously, number 1 all the way. Showin' the toes sez it all.

edit: dammit, I just went back and read some posts and found stanky beat me to the punchline.
