i wouldnt call anyone who can play fast the greatest. malmsteen is far from the greatest. you got to have soul and feel. plus unless you have changed the guitar as we know it or done something no one has ever done then your just another shredder. imo

For those that haven't noticed, Jake was attempting some humor. The video is obviously sped up. I know Jake. Trust me. He knows how good Petrucci is. I thought it was funny.:p

Watch these videos. Warning!!!! These are all joke videos.

JP is the SPEED KING

I don't know if you took the time to peep the clips I linked...but those guys aren't shredders...there's way more to greatness. Phrasing and feel are big too. Just because you can blaze in a linear fashion doesn't make you a great player. Being wellrounded makes you a great player. For instance Landau has played on tens of thousand of records and you'd probably have no clue he was on it, sort of like Luke...the other guys I posted stuff from...well just take in a different slant on the guitar...instead of neoclassical arp licks, why not check out some atonal jazz madness...

Thanks OC- some very cool stuff. I'm a fan of Landau and Henderson, though I don't know the others that well (and the first one is wild!).

There's also more to it than playing. In addition to that, guys like Morse blow me away because of their ability to compose in so many different styles.

i found this video after searching jp out of bordom, i laughed for a good 6minutes so i thought id share it with you guys. speed is also not the only thing that makes you a good guitarist. thats not what i admire most about jp(dont get me wrong hes ****in fast) but i love his approach to playing. the way he pharses and harmonizes with the keyboards. brilliant!

check out this link to!!!

i also am very much inspired by david gilmour. Petrucci and Gilmour are very similiar in there playing. they both use as much feeling as the other in there playing. both amazing musicians:D

The video was hilarious! The author even took the time to throw a winking emoticon in his clip title so we'd know it was a joke.
