Hi there
A UK forumite writes - Does anyone have the ability to scan the tab for JP's lesson in the Jan 2007 edition of Guitar World magazine that they could email/PM me?

I'm especially interested in the arpeggio exercise which looks great!

I know this may not be strictly correct from a copyrighting perspective but it is not an easy magazine to get in the UK.

Could you please send a copy to my email too?

I would certainly buy one if I can actually find one...

I'm sure if you ask your newsagent he'll check out his supplier and probably get you a copy each month.
My newsagent has retired and gone now - he would always check out the availability of mags for me.

yeah ive been getting GW for like 14 years, but when they started the cd-roms i was so happy, but it was just as a trial, then you have to subcribe to get the cd-rom. though they do chuck it in once or twice a year sometimes, but i got sick of not getting it regularly so i subscribed. I still think its a very average mag, i think out of Guitar One and Guitar World the latter is the angry young guitarist mag. Guitar One has LOADS of varied stuff to learn, and not much emo teenage crap. i look through GW and i dont know any of the bands, they are very metal it seems.

+1 on angry young guitarist comment.

Got sick of GW years ago, with too many d*cks on the cover chucking stupid heads as if to say "Growwwl.......... look at me, I'm in a thrash band and I am a very scary, evil monster"

And they'd be lucky to weigh 50kg dripping wet !

Then you'd get Dave Mustaine trying to be the Grandad of all very scary, evil monsters..........

Till now, I think Guitar Techniques is still the best guitar magazine for lessons.

I love collecting lessons from the various mags. But man I'm years behind in learning them ... between the the Steve Morse tabs/lessons and the Petrucci Rock Discpline vid I've got more than a lifetime of practice ahead of me ...

I like guitar player myself. They were carrying Steve Morse lessons for a while. Great stuff. I'm like beej and will be working on it for the rest of my life.

I decided to order the back issue with the JP interview - I got it complete with CD-ROM. The Shred lesson is also excellent!

Nice to see JP playing my amp (the Stiletto Ace Combo) - it's amazing to see so many people coming round to it...

I've also decided to subscribe to Guitar World - I agree with Tim that it's better than most of the UK magz (for my taste and interests). Guitarist to me has gone a bit off the boil - most of the gear it reviews is in the mega-bucks range, the classic tracks don't seem that classic any more (the Only Ones? Eh?), and the music it reviews doesn't seem that relevant to me.

The recent issue of Guitar Techniques has a lesson on Erotomania plus a DVD which is brilliant! It must one of the first ever DT tunes I've ever seen transcribed in a UK magazine. Excellent!

I really must subscribe to GW, I prefer it to the UK mags.

Really?

Until recently, I was always chosing the UK based Guitar mag over GW.... for some reason, GW all the sudden started having players, and emphasising technique again. A couple of years ago they asked Brian May to do a collumn, but it didn't last very long... at that time, it was the only thing it would ever have worth reading in there. But Guitar would always have players, was thicker, had more lessons, and focussed on more interesting topics. I still think it's better, but I've been grabbing GW because of JP, Paul Gilbert, etc. being talked about again...

The UK mag was also more interesting because it would talk about the early British guitar players in a different light where they were sort of every day guys... I liked reading about Brian May, Dave Gilmour, Jeff Beck, Pete Townsend, etc. from thier home country's point of view. That was always nice because they are still the guys that influenced the Vai's, Lukes, and Petruccis of the world, and influenced me before I knew of the shredders and whatnot.

the UK mags are ok, but Total Guitar has gone the way of Guitar World- its for teenagers into detuned metal and emo stuff. but they always have some little article on say Albert Lee, just to get you in!!! Guitarist mag is the big one with tons of reviews, but Guitar Techniques surely is the greatest guitar magazine ever, sensational stuff. Guitar One i would rate 2nd, it really has turned the corner, has jazz, country, blues, rock, great mag. hardly any teen angst rock emo.

I just recently picked up the guitar legends mag tiltled hero meets hero, and i has a bunch of interviews from one guitar player to another...They also had one of petrucci and steve morse being interview by guitar world....In the pictures it has what looks like the JP proto type of his original guitar in mystic dream, and i assume it was a proto because it had a standard bridge (like a silo), and of course steve with his # 1 guitar...Well if you get a chance pick it up it's in news stands right now.
