What would you guys/gals like to see for our next Limited Edition? (Please exclude Blue Dawn or any discontinued color)
Thanks,
Darg

There are a couple things I'd love to see! The 20th Anniversary Silhouette is big on my hit parade! Special finish (maybe w/ optional gold hardware?), Anniversary neck plate and/or headstock brand, maybe some alternative pickup config options like the old days (H/S/H, H/H or S/S/H?), three or four nice finish options and an optional Floyd Rose!

Of course, my fave model remains the Axis, and I'd love to see a limited run Axis if something distinctive and cool can be done with the model - just a limited finish run doesn't really do it for me, but a limited S/S/H with Floyd run would be pretty cool, maybe a 10th Anniversary Special Edition or something? A limited USA Axis EX edition would probably do pretty well, of course, (15th Anniversary?) and you could always do funky pickup configurations with a Floyd Rose under the EX line that you don't want to apply to the Axis proper.

Short runs on special finishes are nice for those who specifically want a finish like that, but I always thought Special Edition or Limited Edition guitars should offer something more than the regular production model with different paint. I'm not really a "fan" of any finish - I'm pretty easy going in that regard - so special paint jobs aren't going to get my attention (or $$$).

my 2¢

We have done Anniversary models before, and will probably do them again, but to make it worthwhile we would have to offer something that can be done to a majority of our models. I don't forsee us offering gold hardware anytime soon. I like the ideas even though most are impractical to produce. Feel free to offer up any idea (even if it is a non-finish idea).

I would LOVE to see a nice maple top on LUKE/PETRUCCI/SILOUHETTE, the same as AXIS does...

I, for one, love quilted maple and would love one on a Petrucci model. I am not sure JP himself likes this kind of finish though. I just think it would look wonderful on this model guitar. Or, offer it on all the models as a upgrade. I don't think that would be too hard would it? I already have my Blue Dawn....hehehehehe ;)

I would love to see that, but to get a maple top on the Petrucci model, you would have to put in some very harsh bends in the wood to fit the contour/armrest area. This picture is from when my the flamed maple top of my guitar was affixed. Just imagine many more clamps and hours of work for a JP model, which means $$$

Nice pic.....I forgot about the bends and shape in the contour of the body.....still could be an upgrade with an obvious increase in $$$. I would pay for one. A friend of mine said he could re-top one of my Pets. I would rather leave my existing ones alone until I am convinced EBMM will not do it.....one can only hope ;)

...I'm just wondering when Jimi was going to let us know when he got back from beating up on the whales. :p Welcome back brother!

I know that a 20th Anniv. Silhouette would make some people shut up, er, happy. I'd like to see that too.

I saw this thread when it first came out and the only thing I could think of was the 20th anniv. Silhouette with a quilt top and flame neck. I still want to honor my word that if you do that I will buy 2 of them. I didn't want to post then because I was afraid that Darrell would tell me to shut up. I already have my blue dawn and burnt apple. You can't make a color that intrests me. Beautiful wood and metal from nature along with a material like the abalone pickguard (again with the nature theme) that's what intrests me. That's what I am saving up for.

Thanks Darrell :D Ya, we had fun chasing whales about the Atlantic despite some seriously BAD weather - saw some frisky Humpbacks and lots of Fins and Minkes; it was nice... also saw lots of rain; not so nice

Hey Dargin (interesting name, sounds kinda Mongolian...what's the scoop?) -

How about making some models with bodies in light mahogany, and/or an exotic or rare or figured tonewood (i.e. korina, koa, lacewood, zebrawood, spalted maple), either as whole bodies or tops, or with new combos of top/back tonewoods?

The idea of a semi-hollow body has been floated here recently...I'm sure you guys wouldn't go that far because it's a good bit of work to make a true semihollow a la a 335, but a simple chambered-body version of something like the Axis instead seems much more feasible and plenty different enough to warrant the Limited Edition moniker...just scoop some wood outta the body before you slap a top on, and voila!

Pete, I hear the way some manufacturers avoid lots of clamping nowadays is to actually bend/secure the top against the body using some sort of a vacuum method. Interesting solution!

I've heard that too.

I mean one way you could do a figured top on a JP is not to have it be a bent top.

Meaning that the contour c ould be the main body wood....catch my drift? :D

Cut a peice out for the big contour...wouldn't be too hard for the Jp... I 3rd and 4rth the quilted top Petrucci Idea. EBMM would do a much better job then the Troll Ed Roman.

One could only hope.....I REALY would love to see this model (or all of them) with quilted maple.....if not, my buddy might get one of mine to top it with quilt maple.... :D But, I would prefer EBMM to put one out with this option because I would buy the first one out the gate!!

I'm with Tristan, I've love to see a Luke or JP with a Maple neck and fret board.

Any many be some special color. I love the discontinued colors, but I understand your reluctance to reintroduce them.

Many something funky, many custom paint jobs and not just colors.

My $.02 worth. Thanx, Glenn |B)
