Anyone heard of a Ernie Ball EVH / AXIS prototype? If so, when were they made? Supposedly it has a Ernie Ball EVH neck with an AXIS body.

the original proto had Axis on the headstock as did the original Albert Lee. I have a photo of both floating around here somewhere

Yeah all I know is that the guy flogging it on ebay bought it only the week earlier for about 750 dollars...looks like he's set for a nice profit!

I presume that we're all talking about the one on Ebay right now ?:

eBay: MUSICMAN ERNIE BALL EVH/AXIS GUITAR (item 250103335841 end time Apr-16-07 20:52:51 PDT)

If so does he have any provenance on it ?

And is it really that desirable ?

The other thing he said is that the Axis never had a reccessed neck plate.
That's surely a mistake because the neck plate on my 97 Axis is.

Oh no, don't tell me I've got a pup:eek:

I know that fellow forumite Komp has one that's the other way around ie Axis neck on a body with no relief contouring and the switch in the EVH position.

The plot thickens ;)

I've got two Sports from '97, both with the recessed plate, so I'd be surprised if the Axis didn't as well.

Somebody check the serial number please.
On the other hand , it could be a replacement body after EVH left the brand.
But would the neck fit seemless in the Axis bodyy since it is smaller in the upper regions??

Poppa knows best......Looks like it is a Frankenstein. Serial number G05742 is from a Sunburst Axis that was born on March 17th, 1999.
