Hmmm???

This afternoon at the store Ana Popovic stopped in with some emergency repairs for her gig tonight. Naturally, since the gig was 2 blocks down from store #2, Waldo & I went to see her perform. She puts on a KILLER show, and it was my pleasure meeting her. Nick took this picture right after he got the digits.

Anyways, the real point of this thread is this:

Her bassist is currently playing a StingRay5 and the string spacing is a bit too wide for his personal taste. I mentioned that EB was coming out with a Sterling 5, and he couldn't get enough of that idea.

So, what's the deal? Is this guy gonna be stuck licking the SR5 while the Sterling 5 takes a backseat to the Bongo 6, or do I have to try and sell him on the Bongo 5 when he comes to the store tomorrow morning?

I'm sorry, what was your question? :D

I see from her website that she's headed my way for Friday night. :D :D

I'm curious about the Sterling 5 too. I haven't heard anything about it, except that it's in the works. :/

If you get the chance, go to the show. She's an excellent guitarist, and her power trio is more than pretty dang good!

If he finds the SR5 a bit too wide, I doubt the Bongo 5 is going to feel any better. I'm pretty sure the neck is the same width as the Ray5.

Yes, the Bongo5 and SR5 are both the same nut width - The Sterling 4 is narrower than the Bongo4 and SR4 so I can only imagine the 5 string version would stay similar in proportion.

Pete it is in the works...it is dudleys project and I expect to see a thread like the bongo 6 soon...I sont think it will have different string spacing but the neck will have a smaller profile

Over the years, I've heard moaning and groaning here and there about WIDER string spacing - you know, "If only EBMM would offer the option of wider string spacing".

This is the first time I've ever heard anyone want TIGHTER string spacing.

I tried that, B to D, and while it was great for the low notes, I really missed the G. On the other hand, I could really do with a high C for chordal stuff.

All academic, since I'm limited to a crappy Yamaha 4-string at the moment.

She showed. Nice. EBMM karma I guess. I was out of town and couldn't get back to you and or her tour manager to set it up. BTW Ronald wasn't playing an SR when he showed up down here.

Did she get a chance to put the AL and Silo through their paces?

She definitely puts on a show. I had problems with her monitors on the first set that kept her a bit constrained but once corrected it was game on..

Ana stopped in again today and hung out for a little bit. Somehow the toggle on her TS808 exploded inside the pedal, and there was a crack in the circuit board. I fixed everything up nicey nice and it's back to better than normal!

She enjoyed the Silhouette Special HSS, but she kept the trial somewhat brief since we don't have a Mesa for her to plug into and she was late leaving for the Woonsocket RI gig. Rest assured she said she will either try one out onstage or at the store when she comes back again (most likely September).

I'm still waiting on Nick for the pics we snapped today...
