looks like I will be starting work on a Ph.D. in Math at Oregon State in the fall. The funding is contingent upon passing the qualifying exams in September. So it looks like I got a summer of some solid studying and my participation here will be reduced. I'll be checking in when I can to catch up with everyone and see what the latest magic the elves at the MM factory are pulling off.

take care all,

Good luck with the post grad work!

My school told me that I cannot start on my PhD because I won't be able to finish it in time given my military schedule.

My BS is in math, and I'll just say that you're either brilliant or crazy or both for following through the whole way with the PhD. Congrats and good luck all at the same time. Too bad there's no pocket protector smiley. :D

Out of curiosity, any idea what your thesis will be?

Best of luck, Tom. We ARE going to need to hear from you -- I'm sure I'm not the only one who'll be interested in your course work and progress. A real PhD in the family! Coo-ell! Now go rip on that math stuff!

Maddog has been stressed about qualifying exams lately but I think he's handling it well.

Thanks BP and everyone else. Hopefully I can make this happen. No way I'm leaving you guys, just won't be as vocal.

well, it ended up being more of a right triangle slice rather than the desired isoceles slice!

I'm no baker but I think I might have fixed your piece of pie.
