Hi,
I've been lurking here for a good long while now and thought it was about time to introduce myself.
I'm another Brit Stingray nut, having treated myself to my dream bass, a trans teal S4 H, about 7 years ago when I hit 40 (bit of a mid life thing). Anyway, I've been waiting for a good excuse to post and, well, she arrived yesterday - a shiny new SR5HH!!!
At 47 I am finally a Compleat Man! I have 2 perfect Balls at last!!!
Now, I know you lot don't believe anything a newbie says until pics are posted as proof so I'm going to have a go here. Hang on a minute while I try this out...
This should be my Trans Teal Stingray 4 and my other mid-life consolation, The Mistress, my megawatt Ashdown rig. This 'Ray is called the "Left Ball" because she has been inadvertantly left behind (safely) in the US after my recent 3 years living there (don't ask, it's a long story):
If that worked then this should be my beautiful new Honeyburst 5 HH. This is my "Right Ball" because she's right here by my side as I type:
Sorry it's a bit dark, I'm not completely happy with the photo but I'll get some nice outdoor ones the next time the sun shines over here again in, say, 3 months or so. I have some close-ups but I can't seem to get them to load in from my myspace site at the moment.
She plays like a dream and the tone is subtly different to the 4. With the switch back there's the old Ray sound but I think my favourite is in the middle, which sounds fantastic when slapped, warm and zingy and bouncy. Just wonderful. A really great bass, so thanks to Sterling and to everyone who crafted her, she's a beaut.
Apologies for the long post but I've been waiting to share the 5 with you for a while and to say "ta!"
Cheers
GD
