The last time I buy a new guitar

Well, he never did mention tone, just "feel" of the guitar. However, I do think a guy used to Strats will probably have no problems getting used to the feel of an AL either.

He will however have an awful lot of problems finding a left handed one.

Oops. Sorry. I've never really had a need to pay attention to which models have left handed versions...

And why would you?

Something a few of the harsher posters are missing is that we lefties rarely have the chance to try out guitars and compare tham before we buy. Especially EBMMs which are rarely in stock left handed.

There's nothing wrong with the tone of the guitar, it's simply the feel and balance of the Axis. I'm sure if there had been a lefty Silo available I'd have gone with that and greatly enjoyed the experience.

The reason for my post was asking why new guitars lose so much value, not to knock the guitar, MM or Ernie Ball. They've all been great. On another forum someone pointed out what taxes the dealer has to pay here in the UK, not only on the new guitar, but when it comes in again as a secondhand guitar to be re-sold the same taxes apply here in the UK, now it makes a bit more sence. I understand the dealers have to make a living, it's just the feeling I have that I've been sold the guitar and now I've got a problem, no one is interested.

francric: Why does this thread need to walk the plank? I'm not saying anything against the guitar or Ernie Ball, it's a beautiful guitar as I stated. It just doesn't suit me. With an attitude like yours I'm just as well staying away from the MM fraternity.

Free forum do what you want, leave or stay and enjoy a great forum but I don't understand why you would come here to say your not happy with your EBMM. You should have gone to the F$nd$r forum and complained..............My opinion should not keep you from coming here. As you can see others have been very helpful.

Of course if we are talking strat tone then it would be terrible of me to not mention the mighty ALBERT LEE!!!!!!!!! It is after all part of my daily duty as a member of the ALOC.

Unfortunately, there's no lefty AL. JimmyJengas would be a lot happier if there were.

Yeah that left handed thing must be rough. It seems like 95% of the guitars at your typical stores are righty. Maybe Ned Flanders should open a left handed guitar store.

My daughter is taking guitar lessons right now. She is a lefty, but I told her to try to learn how to play right handed. I told her if it feels natural holding the guitar righty, just learn that way, it would be easier in the long run. I think she is getting the hang of it ok.

Well he'd have no problem selling his ASS......sadly in the UK he'd have a major problem getting 50% of the new price for it.....which is the basic point of the thread.

Andy, I can't speak for the Euro market, obviously, but I just perused Am. Strats on US eBay. The price of used Strats are comparable to used Silo Specials. As far as I know, all production guitar prices take a beating as soon as they're driven off the lot.

I mean, what does the guy want, a sympathy card for owning an Axis SS?

hey its the same here in Australia, there's no balls PERIOD in the shops, all of them ive bought used/new obviously without playing them first, i had to take the chance at some stage to see what they were all about. the used market here is not great, a new ball would sell less than 50% on the used market.

I dunno I was a strat player and a "superstrat" player before I eventually scraped enough cash together to by the axis that i had always wanted.

However, I simply don't understand because I own a Supersport as well as a Floyd Rose model and I find the Supersport to feel like a strat in the way it plays. I think you should definetly give it a good long play and wear it in. They are the best guitars about.

I can see you selling the SuperSport and then buyin a Fender and then realising that the Fender is utter garbage.

As a lefty that's what I've had to do. I'd never played an EBMM when I ordered my SS. When it came, fortunately I quite liked it, though it took a little getting used to. Once I was used to it I used it exclusively for 3 years of intense gigging.

Had I not taken to it, of course I would have lost money selling it, just like buying a new car.

Can't agree with the "Fenders are garbage" man though, but this is probably not the place to get into that

the only fenders I like are at least 25 years old, I find that MM has captured the vibe of some of those old fender necks (with some improvements even) which is why Im a MM guy -

I think your biggest issue is that you like strat style guitars and you bought a tele style guitar - you should have gone after a silo special, I have both guitars in mention but the silo is like a better sounding strat with better components and a much better neck, theres no way you can tell me that the strat has a better neck than any of the guitars in question -

I wouldn't say Axis is a tele style guitar. They do have similar body shapes, but I think they're totally different tone-wise.

I dont think that there were any harsh posts just like I dont think that there were harsh responses.....just a bunch of passionate guirtarists.

Posting that you will never buy a new guitar is like posting in a leper forum that you miss your arm.....You may get some strong responses...Who nneeds that leg?

To get to the original point that was asked/made. Everything that is bought new loses value when it is used. I have no power over that and really am suprised that it just dawned on Crewood.

It also strikes me as very bizarre that when people come here saying they miss their strat and then get pounced upon then blast the posteer as fanboy or rude. It is like going to a vegan forum and asking how to best sear foie gras, our what age is the best time to slaughter a baby cow for the most tender veal. The internet is a vast collection of severe bias. It is the best way to form an opinion in the modern day. Read twenty biased perspectives and you end up with 21.

Im really sorry that the guitar didnt work out for you. You dont gig so maybe just get to know it while you try to find a acceptable trade

Andy you seem to be using this thread as a vent for being left handed and we try to take care of lefties as best we can and at a very small premium.
