Tremel-NO...need advice

Has anybody here used one of these? Do they work good? Are they easy to install?

I was thinking about putting one on a floating Floyd guitar to make it a non floater?

Yes and no.

I found the install to be kind of cumbersome. There was difficulty in inserting the little metal knob into one of the holes on the trem. Subsequently, I ended up snapping the little knob off, and rendered the system useless.

I have a feeling though, that I was bull-moosing the entire process, and may have forced it into place. Were a person to take their time and not be a moose, it'd be pretty easy to install.

Once it was installed, it worked like a dream. I could lock the trem down, or kick it into use within seconds. It truly is a brilliant device. It made my trem SS a hardtail, and really did kick some ass.

Overall, I give it a nine out of ten. The install issue I had made me a little mad, but just take your time, and it is probably the most logical innovation to hit guitars since the thermometer neck.

I have installed many of these now....no issues at all....and the functionality is great.

it's cool, but i ended up taking mine off... it kept ketting caught on my shirt when i did use the trem, and the little black tighteners kept falling off.

but it does what it says it will!

the only thing that worries me is the darn trem popping off...that is a scarry feeling

i know it is a good idea to put a rag under it before you start the tearing apart...i am having a hard time finding one of these tremel-no things, do you have to buy them from a certain retailer?

In Canada, you can order them through Long and McQuade. As for around the world, I imagine any All-Parts distributor will be able to get them... furthermore, you can order off of the All-Parts website, to my knowledge, so you can clickity-click-click and voila. Didn't have to leave the house and you have one on the way!

I have one of the earlier ones installed on my JP. I was nervous about installing because at that time there was no installation video on the tremol-no website, and the directions were a bit unclear. That being said, I was able to install it in 20 minutes. It comes in very handy in a live situation on a gig and you won't need to switch guitars for drop-d tuning. As far as having the thumbscrews come off - I have avoided this problem by removing the thumbscrew and installing a cut down to size pickup height spring. This keeps tension on the screws and keeps them from getting loose and dropping off.

On the JP, you won't be able to reinstall the backplate as is. You will have to route some holes in it. I have not gotten around to doing this yet. This will help avoid getting the hardware caught on your clothes.

As far as it works - I've been happy with mine and it works as advertised.

Just wondering because I'd be more comfortable ordering from tremol-no.com directly and they don't sell the "EBMM Adapter Plate" themselves and refer you to UniversalJems.com.

I've just got on installed in my other FR guitar, and I set it up to lock the trem, I don't really use the trem at all, this is a godsend to me. It works perfectly well, and I can still close the backplate of my guitar.

It's very easy to install provided that you check out the installation video.

do all Ibanez guitars use the clamp-type? or is just a guitar with a thin tremolo block?

I've got one on my Jem. Easy to install and it works great. I keep it in hardtail mode all the time, but once I get my SuperSport I'll take the tremolno off of the jem and make it my stunt guitar

The idea seems sound, but for me personally, it's a solution for a non-existant problem.

I do know people have it though and are very happy with it, so it will probably do what you are looking for, Brent.

ive got one on my jp6
works like a dream

only thing is the backplate wont go back on over the top
even if it did it would sort of defeat the purpose as youd have to take it off everytime you wanted to change the tremolno

im going to make a back plate soon that has some holes in it
and its going to be clear too

I prdered mine thru a guy who was an all-parts dealer. You do need the adapter plate at least on the old style tremolno that clamped on the block. Not sure about the newer pin type. I would think not. I would email Kevin at the tremolno site and ask him that question.

I installed one with no issues and it performed flawlessly. It's the best trem stabilizer I've seen.
