I am relatively new member here. (more like obssesed member) And I will be ordering my next Lefty soon. I only have 3 guitars to choose from, the Luke, The Silo Special, and the ASS. What do you think I should get and with what options, colors, etc. I will order the most popular one people pick. Ok, go...

Given you've got the Luke, which covers both that model and the HSS config, my choice is

ASS - MM90's with piezo -
a bonus would be the all rosewood. Killer neck feel - killer sound

Question...i've heard alot about the mm90's, never owned them in a guitar. What exactly do they sound like? what style of music would suit them best? I've always been a 2 humbucker "metal" sound kind of guy. Now with the Luke, i've been exploring more single coil sounds.

...that's about exactly what I've been thru...
Always used to have 2xhumbugger guitars around until I bought my first Silo Special HSS. Since then dug into different styles of music/sounds and also fell across the MM90s.
Today I own 2 Axis/ASS guits with them. Typo is a very broad sounding single coil on steroids. Can handle even a little higher gain easily and is very variable when using volume and tone controls on the guitar for alotta different sounds. Not really born for metal though, but all other terrains up to heavy crunch.
Like I said, I was a more metal/humbugger guy before and nowadays I'm fully into exploring sounds, styles and myself (musically that is ;)).

I'd really give an ASS MM90 a try, especially as suggested with a piezo option !!!
Sounds SOOOOOO great !

Oh, and BTW: Check out Tal Morris' vid on YouTube: [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HAqmRbUTCJU"]YouTube - Tal Morris Interview[/ame]

...whoopsie, seems I didn't quite get your first lines rite...

Here of course I'm an unofficial lobbyist for the Silhouette Special - in your special case rather the HSS model so you can have a somewhat bolder humbucker sound in the bridge position.

...nevertheless give thoses MM90s a try (in an ASS) - at least me I got addicted :D

Lefty Bongo.

Wait, wait....yeah sorry. That's me. I'll cover that.

As far as lefty only models, i'm a big Luke fan, but seeing as you already have the ultimate Luke, i'd go with the ASS. Can't comment on config's though, as I haven't looked into the options available.

I'd go for the MM90 ASS. shame thay don't do 3 MM90's on there like an AL - then it would have the cluck and quack too!

BTW - are you sure that you can get piezo in LH guitars? - just a thought.

Poor poor new lefty.

It took me close to two hundred posts to realize the ins and outs of what guitars can have what with what for us backwards players. I know it was suggested that piezo be an option for you, but unless you're a lucky DuBaldo, you don't have piezo as an option for left handed models.

I have owned a Silhouette Special and have a Dargie Delight Luke currently. I have a rosewood Axis Super Sport on order.... I think. Hahahahaha. Sorry, inside joke.

The Luke is a great guitar with a very unique sound all unto its own; as you obviously know. From my personal experience, I didn't really like the humbucker on the silhouette Special. I imagine the guitar would be a monster with three single coils. The humbucker was just a little... weak sounding. I chalk that solely up to personal preference. J-NICK now has it, and he loves it, which is great for him! As for the Axis Super Sport, you get the two humbuckers but a five-way switch which allows for splitting the coils. You get a Tele-ish sound, which is lovely. However, if you want an even better sound for country and blues, then definitely go for the MM90s. They sound incredible. Best soapbar pickups I've ever played, hands down.

Hopefully that will give you a bit of an idea as to where you can go with things.

As for my personal recommendation about what to get, I'd suggest an ASS with MM90s. Color-wise, I don't know if you're into crazy colors, but here's a few tidbits:

The Carbon Blue Pearl has a lovely subtle sparkle to it, which would accommodate our Blue Dawn very nicely. Also, the Graphite Pearl is super nice. However, with the ASS you have the option of going with Trans colors. That opens up a whole new can of awesome in my opinion. I'd say go for a trans color. Whichever, because that again is personal preference. The quilt and flamed tops are just incredible, and even if at some point you regret your decision, there's enough lefties that we can rectify it for you!!

Hopefully that helps a little.

Pssssst.

And just a word to the wise... I've seen you spreading your slanderous filth about wanting lefty JP's and AL's and I agree wholeheartedly. Yay for lefties, however we have to keep in mind that it's not going to happen by pestering. So, while we both share the enthusiasm of the idea, just slow down on attacking EVERY thread with it. I have made my fair share of posts with it, and been fortuitous enough to actually get responses from Poppa. There's tons of red tape and artist-related issues and monetary issues to contend with, before the thought of more lefties was even possible.

For the time being, just be pleased with our options, and maybe the left handed gods will shine fortune on us. (I just give you this warning so you don't piss off the powers that be like a certain me did at one point in time...)

Whoa brother!!!!
Obviously you're not a big Beatles fan,
They have a song called Let it Be and the main lyric is:
"Whispers words of wisdom, Let it beeeee"
And i was making a joke. It had nothing to do with the situation.
I'm all for the lefty cause.
Rock on man.
