Fran,

You are correct (how did you know? ... you're GOOD! :D) The exact date is 7/12/02 and it was shipped to the boys up at Royal Music in Brooklyn.

Nice!

Hey guys! Dan I can see that you have a marvelous data base. Maybe you can help me as well.

I have a MM SR5 with serial 50484. Propably it is from 1989 or something like that. At this moment I'm very lucky user of this unbelivable bass. It is renovated and natural finished but under batery cover I can see some deep red marks which propably was its first colour.

I will be really appreciated if you could send me some informations about my little MM friend :)

Kubass, welcome! Your StingRay 5 was not the very first, but certainly among the first few hundred we made. The color was officially Translucent Red, so the body wood would be alder. The date of production is 1/13/89.

Nice!

Wow! It's nice to hear that it's one in few first hundereds. Now it is playing funky in Poland and plays soooo well!

Do you have an information where it was delivered at the beggining?

Thanks a lot Dan!!!

Col - that's all you have to do! We try to keep things easy -

Your beloved Bongo 4H was completed on 10/16/03. Here's the interesting part though - I see you are in the UK, and this baby was originally sent to Japan.

A real world traveler, this one! :D

Hi Dan,
I just bought my first Stingray (SR 4 black whith rosewood fretboard) and I'm a bit curious about it's DOB.

According to the musicmanbass.org serials database it should be from sept./oct. 2003.

As I've bought it new this year I wonder if this is correct. Can you confirm? And can you tell when it was shipped to Denmark.

The serial number is #E38694. Thanks, you're doing a great job :)

It's such a great bass. I'm enjoying it very much.

I tried the musicmanbass.org site and can't come up with anything for my two EBs. Perhaps the reason is they're both left handed so I am hoping someone might be able to give me some insight into the year they were made.

StingRay 5 Fretted Translucent - L58356

StingRay 5 Fretless Translucent - L03465

Many thanks,
Ken

Kasper, this is where the serial numbers get unpredictable. We'll be strolling along somewhat numerically with serial numbers, then fall back into using serial numbers you'd think would have been used a long time before. Just to keep everyone on their toes :D .... anyway, your bass was completed on 3/29/07. It would have probably been shipped to Denmark about a week later.

Cool -
