I can get "it's not my cup of tea" or "it doesn't give me wood", but "it looks cheap"?

That's weak. How about "it has cooties"? or "my dad can beat up your silo"?

lol - classic:)

jonyq,

Of course this is an EBMM board so you experience some wrath for that comment.
You have to keep in mind that it's a 20th anniverary and therefore would represent something classic. Which is therefore not very flashy. If guitars or anything were gauged by their looks, then a lot of times we'd all be disappointed.
Personally I prefer the look of the regular Silo. But I will admit that you do have to see one in person. They are very beautiful in their own right.
If you gauge your opinion by something that is seen on eBay then they always look terrible there.
I'm not trying to change your mind but do what want to give you a more educated change to do so.
Here's are some proper pics, which I happen to think are just beautiful! :)

That's alright... I just wanted to see if I stood alone or not. heh :p

In anycase, I am a EBMM convert... my "ahmagad" moment came not too long ago... More "balls" to follow very soon...

I think it's kinda cool. I think it keeps in tune with the original Silo, but with a twist. Keep in mind it's pretty hard to come up with something that hasn't been done already and looks decent. This design seems to have pulled it off and in keeping with EBMM styling.

When I first saw the 20th...I can't say I was overly in love with the body design, but it grew on me. Especially with pics Foggy just put up...It is a stunning instrument!

A 20th with a quilted top with a rosewood neck...now thats sexy!

I think they look great. I wish something very similar was a permanent addition to the guitar lines offered by EBMM. Silhouette Extra Special? :)

I think the 20th Silo is the best looking guitar EBMM has ever done. I wish I had one!

I might be standing very alone here... but I think the 20th Silo does not look very good...

Of course it's a great player but it reminds me of a low cost Schechter appearance wise.

Am I the only one who doesn't really get the looks of the 20th Silo?

i'm not with you .. i think silo anni looks amazing.. but.. thanx for sharing..

I think that the moment of truth for a lot of us is when we pick up the instrument and play it. Having been born and raised on Strats, the deep cut lower horn and the shorter space from the bridge to the end of the guitar seems odd. After picking up the guitar and feeling how well-balanced it is and the tactile feel of the EB necks, seeing the evident quality level through and through... It's almost a religious experience.

I have never been keen on pretty topped guitars in general,Im not sure why really I think its because imo a solid colour look's great dinged and beaten but I would cry like a baby if I messed one of those beautifull tops :p
Theres a video on youtube with a guy reviewing the 20th and the bridge humbucker sounds AMAZING,kinda like a half cocked wah tone but with a tight bottom

It does look cheap IMO. It just looks like a badly-made Korean guitar trying to look "expensive". Especially the pickup mounting rings, they look pretty horrible.

nobody should be surpised that some dont like something it is what make the world go around I just hopw I hav something that makes them happy!

You know BP you make lots of guitars that make me happy and others as well we are all different which is what makes us human, I have spent 2007 trying to collect what for me would be my ultimate collection of balls and it is a work in progress, one coming next week suprise suprise:D

I personally do not like the axis mainly due to the floyd, but this thread got me thinking if I had to thin the herd due to whatever reasons which one would I keep and I keep coming up with the same answer the 20th.
