Yes Kung Fu nicely said. The problem is that if they arent at the root of the thread nice they ALWAYS spin out of control...... THis one hasnt and its still alive.

What has happened is that it has given the 20th renewed focus and the thread says that most like the looks......NOthing in the world is 100%...thats is why I get up in the morning there are more opportunities to make nice things that SOME people wil like

I don't understand the intent of a post like this. "Am I the only one...". NO! You're never the only person with your opinion. Of course some people will prefer a thing and others will not. So leave it at that. Why post the question in the first place? What would come out of it other than the obvious? In my opinion, it's left-handed. It's a passive-aggressive attempt at digging up s#$t.

CUd it may be just somebody looking for company. I really dont mind it at all...Look at the results..Overwhelmingly people disagree with him.

Im using this tread to show it isnt the moderators that make a thread go ugly it is the contributors. So far this has been really good except for Flukather upset at my new rules.

I love the comments both ways and when it stays nice its great and enlightening. It is when two people stage a filabuster that gets mean that it is bad.

Well as you said before, if it draws attention to the 20th, then more power, as the saying goes. :)

Like some of the guys here, I was not a big fan of the 'beautiful' 'figured' topped instruments.

Flames, sure, green, of course, but the beautiful wood was not my thing.

Then I went to NAMM last summer.

Hmm, maybe I could learn to love this whole wood thing.

This young man certainly seemed fond of them.

Then when the 20th Stingray 5s were released and I had the opportunity to sit down with one in January, I had to have one.

The difference with the 'fancy' Music Man instruments is that you already know you're getting a big, throaty engine under the hood.

hello folks...

... i remember when the 20th was introduced i thought it is a nice axe... first i didn´t like the black pu-rings on the photos... and i thought - it is just not my cup of tea. also the shaping is something special.

but after a while i really fell in in love with that look... it is very special, classy and cool - then i decided to grab one of those fine axes... finally i have one and i have to say - FIND ONE, PLAY ONE and FALL IN LOVE WITH A 20TH......
i love the combination of the rosewood and hardtail... this guitar is just stunning. now i am thinking of gettin one with a trem too... because i really like the FEEL and SOUND of this guitar. the sound is also something special and i love the sound so much - so it will be one of my favorite guitars for the rest of my life! thank you ernie ball - thank you for a wonderful instrument!

by the way - have you seen a 20th in real life - because pictures are always nice - but they definetely don´t do it justice...

Then I was surfing the forum and someone posted this:

It was everything I wanted if I were to order a 20th. So I bought it!! When I opened the box it was like OMG this is the best EBMM I'd ever played!!!!

Again I'm not one that's into figured tops, but there is something very special about the 20th's. They aren't for everybody, but for those that are into them they are awesome. I'd like to score a rosewood neck one someday.

Glenn |B)

Yup. Aren't you glad I found that one for you, Glenn? :D

My "dream" configuration for a 20th: Quilt, rosewood, MHS, piezo, most likely hardtail (but trem's okay too). I doubt I'll be able to get one based on the small numbers in which piezo-equipped 20ths were produced, but I can dream, can't I? :D If I can't find one like that, well...I'm fine with mine. I don't have the right amp to make it shine as brightly as it can, I think. One day, I will have an amp that can bring out all the guitar has to offer.

It's funny, I've never been a big fan of the Silhouette's body design, with the extended horns. Also, with the 24-fret neck, the 3 pickups have always looked cramped to me.

Having said that, I absolutely LOVE the 20th Silo's. The maple top, no pickguard & the 2 humbuckers w/ no middle pickup make the guitar look more balanced to me. Right now, I think the 20th is the sharpest looking guitar available, even w/ the BFRs.

i remember that day!

Ha! As does my son - a very cool moment for my little up-and-comer guitar dude.

It's been a bit over a year - his hair is longer and his playing is rocking. And ever since that day Anthony will tell anyone who asks his dream guitar is a "Silo" - and to him that means the 20th... :)

what difference have you noticed beetween mapple or rosewood fretboard

thanks

The brightness of the maple enhances the snap of the middle position, while the rosewood keeps the neck position rounder and smoother. The rosewood to my ears sounds fuller but that could be because mine is a hardtail. Both have a warm, soulful richness.

I love how well the look of the 20ths fits their sound (and, it's a minor detail next to the gorgeous tops, but I also like how the pickup rings set off the metal from the wood).

There's a 20th sitting at one of the stores in town here... if I was right handed, I'd buy it in an instant. The classic look of it... the understated style... there is nothing about that guitar I don't like... except the right-handedness of it.

Hey Tim...does it have a quilt with a rosewood neck?
