Mrs. Psycho and I are having our 25th wedding anniversary this year and we booked our trip last night, off to Hawaii. We are flying out of GSO to Honolulu, jumping on a cruise ship and sail around the islands for a week. (Sort of taking your hotel room with you deal.)

I’m on a mission, well aside from the second honeymoon stuff, I must find a jam and play music in Hawaii, and then I can truthfully say I’ve played in all 50 states.

Mission #2 is to find BP a shirt for his collection, a loud shirt, one so loud it would make my MarkBass will weep!

Woo Hoo! :D :D :D

I'm jealous! My wife & I have been casually mentioning taking a trip to Hawaii on our 10th anniversary (in 3 years). We should start saving up now! :D

I just moved FROM Hawaii (born and raised) a few months ago. How long are you going to be on Oahu for? Maybe I can tell you some cool places to check out while you are there.

Oh yeah, and I'm going back in a week and a half:cool:

Which cruise line will you be on? I have a client who runs food and beverage for NCL in Hawaii. If you are on NCL maybe I can get you some "special treatment"!!

Is it my imagination or didn't Chuck just have a vacation?

The Cayman island trip was sort of a working vacation, my wife worked and I vacationed. :D Actually my wife only had one meeting that lasted for a couple of hours and there was a dinner. After that we both got to have fun.

@ Eggman, It is a NCL boat! I’m not sure which one though; I don’t have all the details in front of me.

@ JustinP I would love to have any tips, info or anything else you could point us to. We are going in October, I hope it doesn’t snow!

There is another trophy husband duty trip in August, 10 days in China, maybe I’ll see where Fen@ers are made.

Traveling with my wife is a lot more fun than touring was, with her I only have to worry about small things, luggage and flight times. Touring I had three keyboards, two 200lb racks, a computer, wind controller and a sax.

Was over there during Christmas, in Oahu. We went to the Dole plantation, the PCC, did the hike up to Diamond Head, etc. We forgot to hit Matsumoto's for shave ice (remember, don't say 'shaved ice' or 'snow cone'...the locals will give you a funny look and shake their head). Don't miss the plate lunches...like loco moco, lomi lomi salmon, kalua pig, etc. Stay away from pakalolo if you don't want to get stuck in the clink!
From what I heard over the radio, there seemed to be a lot of reggae based music but with a local twist.

Psycho Ward -

If you are going to be on Oahu for a while check out...

Manoa Falls - GREAT HIKING and some awesome water falls. Not a lot of tourists know about this place.

Sandy Beach and or the "Blow Hole" - Southeast part of the island, pretty close to where I lived for 20 years of my life. The blowhole is a formation of rock on the beach that 'blows' crazy amounts of water into the air when waves hit - pretty amazing. If you watch "Lost" a lot of the scenes in the show are filmed at that location.

You might also want to venture out to the North Shore. Waimeia beach in particular. During the winter months the waves at the north shore get HUGE. This is where they have all off those surfing contests (during the winter only) but the waves might start picking up around October, you never know.

If you do end up on the north shore, like someone else posted, check out Matsumoto's shaved ice. The best there is.

If you have any time on Maui you NEED to drive up Haleakala. I believe the translation means "house of the sun". It once was a volcano, but now people go to see the amazing view at the top of the mountain. The drive alone is worth it. You litterally have to drive through clouds to get to the top. If you can catch a sunrise on Haleakala, I can assure you it will be the most spectacular thing you will ever see.

Hope this helps. If you have any questions at all, feel free to ask.

Oh yeah, and you might want to check out Dans Guitars, my favorite EBMM dealer on Oahu. Last time I was on the Islands (this summer) they had a brand new 30th Stingray...Good stuff.

This is an old thread but its coming due, we leave the 19th. BP I noticed you had on a cowboy shirt on the first night at the bash and I didn’t see you in a Hawaiian, you still into Hawaiian shirts?

This is our 25 anniversary trip and I have to say its been the happiest three years of my life! (Just a joke people! :D:D:D)
