I'm actually going to check out the "new state of the art" store that just opened on Las Vegas Blvd. They closed the location on Tropicana and had a huge grand opening party on Thursday night (unfortunately, I had class and missed it) I think Panic at the Disco played live and there were tents galore with all sorts of stuff going on.

I'm kinda glad they closed the old location, it seemed a little unsavory over there...not that Vegas is known for it's upstanding moral values and such ;)

Where is the new one located?

I didn't say I can't, I just said I don't want to. I kick their butt on a regular basis, it's just not fun anymore. That's all. That and the hours suck, I never get to see my daughter.

I never got the mailer but I'm sure people will be bringing it in to our store. They opened right next door to us.

Out of respect to BP and EB company in general I'll stuff any other comments on this thread save this last story and I"m probably going to step in it here:

Last year Gibson decided to do a 4th quarter "special" and screw me out of $400 on bread and butter pieces. They didn't tell us about this drop in MAP, customers told me "hey wow I can get this same thing on MF for blah blah blah". Real nice to hear it from the horse's mouth. Gibson still made their margin. I lost a ton of money. We still kicked GC's butt on it.

That's the kind of thing I'm tired of. Has nothing to do with anybody here, just the names people "have to have" and all that crap.

That's it, no more comments from me. I'm going to go play my guitar before I go to work. Ciao.

I thought the art work was great, caught my attention, maybe I would play better if I severed a finger, so wish I was going to be home, I would go get a new EBMM, between the discount and the finacing a no brainer.

I got mine in the mail earlier this week. Going to check it out...

I had a little "whoa" reaction from the severed finger image...it was interesting.

PJC,

Hang in there buddy!!!

It's not easy at all for ANY retail store in this day and age of fierce competition and "on-line" sales!!

But, YOU can make it fun!!

Don't let the "system's" way of doing things ruin your day. Understand them, then have fun and conquer!!!

You have determination, go get em'!:):)

Musicman guitars and Slinky strings really brighten up my day - thank you Ernie, BP and the MM gang!!:):)

I want one... Does it say you have to have the card in order to be eligible? Or is it just a announcement card?

We have a GC in town thats about 2 miles down the street from our DMC store. They have been here for 10 or 12 years now, and we have been around for 54+ with each of our locations. I like the competition because it keeps me on my toes, even if they do run radio ads like "EB strings for $1 a pack" during weeks that I have EB artist clinics  :D

I didn't notice the severed finger on the card, I wonder if Nick would appreciate it? :D

Yeah, we have a GC about 5 minutes from our store...it is so chaotic in there.
They have so many people working there...and most of them know very little about the gear or how to follow up with anything.

A lot of the local musicians are very supportive of the smaller guys. We have a really loyal customer base, and can almost always match or beat their pricing.
Pete Dubaldo is a great example for how well an independent music store can thrive when you take care of your customers. I've never met him, but just what I see on the forum speaks lots for him...I'm working hard to get to that level!

Honestly, my independant can match or beat GC prices on anything "important". Only exceptions are blowout deals or loss leader stuff that they sell under cost. so even that 20% thing is dangling a carrot. I can't even imagine what that Friday morning is going to be like.

NO thanks

I just was in there a few days ago. Picked up a pocket pod, cable black strap locks and a box of strings.

I think I'm done buying guitars for a while. Happy with what I got for now.

Ive been putting off buying a Voodoo Labs Pedal Power 2 (probably because I'm having a hard time dealing with the fact I just sold mine not even a year ago foolishly) but I think I'm going to put the 20% card to good use.

So do you have to have the postcard at the time of purchase in order to get the 20% off?
