Oh yeah...This is the third one I have owned....They are getting progressively larger! And I have never had grass to cut....It's Arizona! All desert!

I wish. My front yard takes me an hour to cut every week, and the back yard and edges takes me another hour or thereabouts every couple of weeks.

Estate? Not at all, it's just a house in the 'burbs. The fence is not there to make it a "walled estate" to keep the local homeys out, it's to keep the kids in the yard so they don't ride their bike or skateboard straight down that long and steep driveway into traffic (which is something I would have tried to do if I had access to a driveway like that when I was a kid).

BTW, I am surprised over and over again, how many on this forum have their own (largeish) houses. To have your own house is in gernal very expensive in Switzerland, and to have a garden where children can play in is almost not possible... because there is not enough space and the houses are build in close vicinity.
I'm jealous... in a positive way... like GAS... I think it's really cool!!
(and I'm happy I don't have a lawn to mow)

Oli, I guess the difference is that many people on the forum live in largish countries, where land is less expensive than Switzerland. I'm not sure if you realise, but Australia is bigger than Europe in land mass, but only 20 million people live here. Sure, a lot of that land mass is uninhabitable unless you're a sheep, a rabbit or an open cut miner, but even so, there is plenty of space here to build big houses. I've been to Switzerland, so I know what you mean, but your country is very beautiful and the chicks have great skin. I may have a big lawn to mow, but I don't have to shovel snow or fit snow chains to drive to the liquor store

Hey Mark, I am aware how much more space you have down under! It's paradise. Sort of. Then again, I love to live here in Switzerland. This country is simply beautiful, and you have a great diversity of landscapes within a two hour car drive: From mellow hills, many lakes to the rough stone deserts and eternal glaciers of the alps. And there is the main "problem": Also a large part of small Switzerland is inhabitable unless you're a capricorn!
Still, I often wonder whether I'd trade it for the possibility to be a home owner and have much more room around me.
And don't get me started on the snow... the season has arrived...

It's a 1400 sq m block, whatever that equates to in acres. The previous owner bought a ride on, but the block was too steep for him to use it. I get by with a 22" wide cut MTD mulching mower, no catcher to mess with, plus it deals with all the gum nuts, twigs, bark and leaves that the trees drop. Everything gets mulched, so no need to rake any leaves and empty a catcher. Me likey.

I think a lot of it has to do with the type of people that buy EBMM instruments. I was pleasantly surprised to discover that most EBMM Forumites have REAL JOBS! Not to be conceited, or to denigrate other musicians, but how many musicians do you know of that live on the edge of poverty? And seem quite content to stay there..... I had one guy tell me, when I asked what he did for a living, that he was "a part time busboy at Denny's"......ICK!

1400 sq m = .35 acres
I have about 1.5 acres of lawn to cut. It takes over 2 hrs with a rider and I don't even attempt to trim.
