Of course, but people need to dream!! But as BP says people also really need to learn how to use the search functionality. I see it time and time again, people just as the question first before searching to see if it's been asked before.

Hey FearofCups, where are you in Vermont?

The FAQ is easy to find, too.

8. Why did Ernie Ball stop producing my favorite finish?

A: Because you were the only person who really, really loved it. Okay, not really, but if a finish is popular and sells well, it will remain as an option. If it doesn't sell well, it goes the way of the dinosaurs. Yes, I know how many of you love sparkle finishes, but they simply didn't sell well enough when they were current.

I like them, too.

I think we all just have to accept that a "where are the sparkles" thread is going to appear every few months and that the answer is probably always going to be "in the past".

No biggie.

I understand perfectly the object of business, which is success by any means. Sure some of us love the sparkles, but when it hurts the company its gotta go.

i never really speak of sparkles... but i do have one question for BP/Dargin (or anyone that knows):

Did sparkles not sell as "a whole color line" or were there a few that actually did sell?
Yeah, I was thinking today, What was the best selling sparkle color?

You could always buy a package of sparkles at the dollar store and sprinkle it all over yourself.

I want a red bass with one sparkle that's hard to find...kinda like a "Where's Waldo" sparkle paint job.

This is new to me as well although I'm not sure I would ever buy a sparkle bass. Some look pretty cool, but if it came down to it I'd probably pick something like white with a tort guard.

One thing I had thought about recently, has there ever been a sparkle type of pickguard? Having sparkles in a pickguard would be a decent way to satisfy the sparkle lovers out there without having to make a whole instrument with it. And, you could remove it for the unsparkle friendly gigs.

Ah, danged old sparkle thread.

Again, I personally love sparkles and have had quite a few, BUT.

I saw a sparkle thread over on another open forum and was really surprised how many bassists didn't care for sparkles finishes.

So maybe it's true.

I personally love the sparkle finishes. Kind of that retro thing in a way I guess.
