Thank god I don't do drugs or gamble as this addictive behaviorial trait I seem to have when it comes to basses is a costly one.

Actually... maybe a coke habit would actually be cheaper. Nah.. then I couldn't afford to buy ANY basses.

Anyways, I was so impressed with the recent purchase of my 2007 LE SR that I made the mistake of picking up a Sterling to try at a local retail store last week. As a smaller guy, I loved it. Ergonomically perfect for me.

Anyways, the Sterling below is on it's way to me now. I hope to have it by the weekend. My first red bass and I am looking forward to gigging it next week.

I never thought I would order a single H until I played one. Sounds amazing and gives me tons of room to slap and pull.

I would only own a HH in a SR or Sterling 5 string for my metal band. I don't slap on 5ers and I am starting to miss my bongo 5 HH I sold last year.

I know what you mean, but I've found the HH to be much less "slap-inhibitive" than I thought it would be - especially on the SR4, but on the Bongo, too.

On the SR4 HH, there's a pickup-free popping zone about the full width of a humbucker between the end of the neck and the humbucker at the neck position. I found that's more than enough room for me, because I always slap/pop right in that area, even on a single H.

That zone is a little more narrow on the Bongo HH, but I adapted to it within a few days (I posted about that "issue" a few days ago) & now it's not an issue. In fact, you can even pop directly over the neck position humbucker, since the pole pieces under the G string are typically about flush with the pickup cover surface, and there's good enough clearance for popping, even right there. Yeah, it takes just a bit more adaptation, but if that's where you want to do it, it can be done there.

Anyway, you've got 2 gorgeous & I'm sure great sounding lovelies, there. To borrow a sentiment I picked up here at the forum, play them in good health!

I am used to slapping on Jazz style basses and have for 20 years. I could have adapted on the Bongo, but I didn't want to bother as I rarely slap on a 5er and I have a lot of Jazz style basses.

Now a SR4 H and Sterling H which gives me TONS of room to get my "flea on",

Very nice basses, man !

I personally prefer the EBMM single H config over any other I tried so far.
Though, I did not have the chance to put my hands on a Bongo HS or HH yet.
