Ok so i replaced the 85 in the bridge with an 81?
HOLY CRAP its insane!!! i wanted a tighter more defined metal tone and that my friends is how you get it!
i still love the 85 but at the moment im doing lots of metal and the 81 just rulez
Give it a go if your wanting the ultimate metal tone

How is the crunch in Drop D tuning?

I use the stock pickups and I get a wicked crunch in drop D. I think alot of it depends on the amp. But I would like to hear the Luke with an 81 just to see how crunchier it can get.

That's very cool and it sounds like you're loving the results

How many different model EMG humbuckers are there?

i have an 81 laying around at home. if i don't get home too late ill try this. I asked Luke whether he tried it or not a year or so ago at winter namm and he said he hadn't.

so my trem floats... any precautions to take before I take all the strings off? I've always only taken 1 string off at a time. should I brace the trem so it stays where it is etc?
