Just wondering (apart from falling off the stage) does Petrucci ever make mistakes? all the videos I've seen of him and never a note out of place or a bum note....
I'm starting to believe he is not from this planet......:p

Watch the out-takes in his "Rock Discpline" video. He doesn't make any playing mistakes, just trips over some speaking parts here and there.

I suspect that if he made a mistake in playing, nobody would know except him!

I actually heard him mention that he has made mistakes playing when they start a new tour trying to remember older songs. But after a few practices and shows he's spot on. Something to that effect. Can't remember where I saw that, maybe on the Mesa site?????

I could see that being the case. I've never heard one in any live stuff either. Pretty impressive! That's why he has his own badass signature guitar from the best guitar company in the world!

Last october I saw them in concert here in Italy, and he actually played the wrong song!!
Jordan started playing forsaken, and john started playing I walk beside you, so they all got messed up, so Mike stood up and stopped everybody, said a few rude words at the mic and then started from the beginning.
really funny :)

Everyone can make mistakes, the difference being even if JP makes one it still sounds awesome:D

on the "Scenes from NY" dvd from 1999, they do a band commentary and he says at one point that he "screwed up that part" because he hit a note 1/4 of a second late. how bush-league of him!!!!!!

I heard that there was one show where he was constantly out of time, was way out of tune on several songs and then tripped over one of his footstands, falling straight on the neck of the BFR he was playing at the time, snapping it in half!

Apparently he then just switched on the 'kill entire audience' patch so all first hand accounts of this unusual night are now lost! ;):D

Believe it or not, but YES, he does make mistakes when playing live every now and again! (He also goes out shopping, or sometimes even eats something else than small mamals, which famously are responsible for his string-melting picking speed)

Just search for Octavarium 2008 on Youtube - You'll see that he has missed one of the target notes in the final Razor's Edge solo a couple of times on the last tour, and that part is pretty slow by his standards!

And You know what's even worse? I still love him for that, cause that makes him at least a bit human when playing guitar.

But hey, he can still go into the "world domination mode" in a second!

There's a video from a NAMM show where Liquid Tension Experiment played "Universal Mind." At first, his rig kind of stops working, and later on in the song he forgets where he is in the song and plays something too soon.

In Live Scenes from New York Disk 3. A Change of Seasons, he messes up. At about 2:09.

So after 20+ years of constantly touring and being recorded, playing some of the most difficult music in the world we can only find 2 mistakes and a few in the grey area. I think im gonna quit......wait....buy a Petrucci, yeh that should work.

But I think he messes up on the Master of Puppets bootleg. During the high harmonies, he is a half step off or something, its the only time I have ever heard him seem really off, it just doesnt sound good. But maybe that is just me.

Not really a mistake but just a hic-up, Live at Budokan DVD, end of his solo on Trial of Tears.

Saw DT at the Octavarium tour, made a goof here and there.

More like something minor. Bend a little sharp/flat, coming in a little too soon, or too late.

Haven't heard a big goof though.

Ahem, Endless Sacrifice on Live at Budokan is pretty freakin' sloppy. But he makes up for it by destroying every other song...(He screwed up the As I Am solo too )

He's human after all! :D (Daft Punk reference, lol)
