hey guys

my silhouette special is black.. maple fretboard and has a black pickguard.
i got this because it was the only one in the warehouse, and didn't feel like waiting 6 months for another.

Turns out i quite like the black so all is well.

Wondering if anyone has any photo's of black silhouette specials with different pickguards ? Or opinions on what the other colours look like? As naturally, buy and putting a different pickguard on is easy, but i have no idea what colour i might like!

thanks funksters :)

I actually think the black on black looks really cool.
But since the point is suggestions, how about a "vintage" looking white pearloid? You know, one that's not quite white.More of a cream color.

instead of black on black, why not just change your pickups? Get white pips on a black pickguard!!! David Gilmour!!!!!

I wouldn't change that a bit!!!!
I love that. It's what I really want.
There's a thread or two asking for the same as this thread.
Check back up to a couple weeks and you should find lots of pics.

You can order the basic white or black from EB and the are only $20. Very inexpensive if you just wanted to try something new. I would have to agree with Foggy the blk/blk looks killer.

I have a black Silo too. I was trying to find some pics of black Silos with diff guards when I remembered the EBMM site has a 'build your own' wizard that generates a picture of the guitar you want with the features/options you pick... Try that. I think I'm going with white pearl.

I am a fan of the moonstone and abalone for black on the Silo Special. Plus, the soft edged, random patterns of those materials contribute nicely to the aesthetic of the curved shape of the SS and its pickguard, rather than something with straight or angular patterns. I do like the all black look as well.

Thanks guys! Awesome display of pics and suggestions.
I do agree, I love the black as it is - but you never really know what else looks cool until you see it.

I did try the build your own feature on the MM website, but they really don't look right.. doesn't give you a true indication. I like the black perloid.. but yeah, think i'll leave as is for the time being.

you guys are the best!

PS. i think i'd stay clear of white, purely as I have a red delx strat with a white pickguard & pickups :) hmm strangely david gilmourish hehehe (funny about that, as he's my idol lol)

i know it's not a ball, but here she is..

I will start another topic one day but i would like to think about pickup changes in the ball. I really love the strat tones (in particular the position 2 & 4 out of phase combinations). The ball is fantastic, but those two positions are good but not quite as cool as the real strat (in my ear). However, the humbucker in the bridge really kicks it for me - i love the ability to go from pretty chords to screaming lead far better than the strat... the ball with the humbucker really drives the DS-1 distortion so much better than the strat.

anyhoo, i digress :) thanks again guys
