Okay, it's brand spanking new, but could I have it's birthday anyway please?
S/N E62300 (SR4 2-Band EQ, Blue Pearl, Rosewood Board)

Oh, and the body is quite light. What is the body wood?

That sir, is a beautiful bass!

Duarte, this Egyptian Smoke Bongo 4 HS was completed on 1/07/05 and was shipped to Shomaker Guitars in Burlington, NC. It shipped with a black ice pickguard.

Dan

Thanks Dan, it's got some other pickguard on now so I'm going to hunt for a black ice. I'm still amazed that you know exactly what bass it is...I mean I know there's a database but it still confuses me! It's like when you put in your postcode on amazon or something and it tells you your address, spooky.

Anyway, thanks again!

Hi, I just bought a nice all Black Stingray.
I'm wandering what date it is, and what kind of wood is used.
[The wood of the neck looks almost black ?]
Any other information is welcome!

Serial: 42522

viersnaar, nice bass, thanks for sharing the pic! It was built on 7/28/1994 and was shipped to the Netherlands. The body wood would be poplar, and the neck maple with a very dark rosewood board.

hey, can you tell me when my stingray has been build?

E00379

FW - your StingRay was built on 3/13/1998. Nice!

Dan, yesterday i picked up a beautiful bfr stingray 4 with serial number E55645. if you could help with any info like what materials were used, how many were made and when its birthday should be celebrated id greatly appreciate it. thanks
Congrats on your new StingRay! It was built on 2/27/09 and has a Sapphire black finish over an ash body, and an all-rosewood neck and moonstone pickguard. There were abut 30 of these made that we shipped to Guitar Center stores, I believe.

Thanks all!

Hi guys!!! I just bought a family reserve stingray 5 from guitar center. I do NOT see it in the family reserve pic thread so I thought I'd see if you can find info for me.
sn# e55696
Thanks in advance!
The sort of non-standard BFRs with the all-rosewood necks are not being pictured in the BFR thread. Here you go: StingRay 5, Black, completed on 2/17/09, of course with the all-rosewood neck.!

Hi!
Can you tell me anything about this Bongo 6? S/N F21708

Thanks.
Absolutely, this Bongo 6 HS in Candy Red finish and adorned with a white pearloid pickguard was completed on 5/02/08 and was shipped to Bass Central.

Dan,

Just received a Stingray H and was wondering if you wouldn't mind looking it up for me. Serial# E60687

Regards,
Jon
Jon, no problem, your StingRay in Natural Ash/Maple was built on 7/02/07 and was originally shipped to Japan.

Congrats to all! :D

Hey Dan, Rod or someone else, could anybody help me with s/n: E00902 that I showed in my last post earlier today?

Hey dan, maybe you didn't see my post.
E00902 is mine SR4 serial Number.
What do you say about it?

Diego, really sorry man, I still am super behind on this thread and I will be gone all next week, so I apologize in advance (I expect Aziah or A.J. will answer queries in my absence). But I was going to get to yours next (really!) ;)

No, there are no special editions associated with any sort of serial numbers, at least not by design or intention. Often just the natural sequence of numbers will become associated with a limited run, but that's just luck of the draw. We're just not that sophisticated when it comes to serial numbers!

That stated, let's get to the meat: The StingRay in question is a Natural with a rosewood board completed on 6/01/08 and originally shipped to New Jersey Guitar & Bass Center in Edison, NJ.

Cheers, Dan

Hello, own a '90 stinray5 black PG on black with rosewood fretborad (non matched headstock). The serial is 51835 and is on the bridge rather than like the more current 2000+ models on the neckplate. Battery cover is also different, requires a scredriver for access, where the new ones you just pop the latch. Couldn't resist the forum, wound up registering. Stingray is the first bass that got me into bolt-ons earlier this year, which also led me to try out a fender, never cared for these instruments before until i tried one. Would you believe 11 years of owning and playing all sorts of basses and purposely avoiding these gems? I mean i had a Ric4003, DeanEdge1, Ibanez Ergodyne edc705, ibanezbtb405qm, warwick vampyre sn 5, warwick corvette std 5, and recently. Stumbled upon a stingray by accident too, funny story, i put my warwick corvette on ebay and wound up trading it for a '90 stingray5, i looked it up and i was like wow, this guy wants a boring std corvette warwick that doesn't even match up in price for his near vintage stingray? So we traded, I had no intention on owning it, just got it to resell, but i just can't avoid having an instrument in my hands and not trying it, ok here's the funny part, I couldn't stop playing it, it sounded sooooo good, especially with the grind and overdrive effects on my line 6, yeah i'm not giving up this bass ever, not too bad for a 19 year old instrument too, a few nicks, mainly on the back where you'd wear a belt, but other than that, just some minor chips from careless placement when outside of the case, and a ofcourse the few of those headstock swings agains a wall ;), but nothing majorly noticeable, since then i purchased a fender jaguar bass and a fender p-bass (MIM) which i gave as a gift to my student both of which sound sweet as well, tried numerous other fenders and a few other stingrays, can't seem to find many of musicman basses around stores. This bass will definitely be the one instrument I'll hold on to, as much as i can't stand having scratches or nicks on my stuff. Well I'll be posting soon again on the pictures forum when i get a hold of a decent camera...until then...C ya!

Cool, nice story, thanks for sharing - :) just for grins, or if you were interested, the date your "new" SR5 was completed is 1/28/91. It was originally shipped to the original Manny's Music on 48th Street in New York City.

can you help me with s/n: E33570 ?
thanks a lot!

can you tell where my bass was bought and when? Music Man Stingray E33570

Again, sorry for not getting to this sooner ....

Sure, this StingRay in Blue Pearl rosewood matching headstock and a white pearloid pickguard. Built on 9/11/02 and shipped to New York Music. That would be sort of weird if New York Music was actually located in New York, but it is in fact located in Boardman, Ohio.

Do you have any idea where I can find the exact number of sparkle bongo's made? I've contacted Voerman but they didn't know.

Oh and while I'm on it, any idea how many limited edition 2006 (the black/gold ones) were made?

Sheesh ... that's a tall order! That kind of stuff takes serious time to research, Bongodude, sorry I am not going to have time for a while as I am on vaca for a week in like 2 hours. Why don't you PM me to remind me later of what you want to know, OK? Thanks!

Hey first post...but i'm wondering if you have the D.O.B of a second hand sr4 i just purchased. Its s/n is E03119, a 2EQ vintage sunburst with a black plate, was that standard?

thanks martin

Martin, congratulations on your first Music Man, and a warm welcome to the Forum as well. Your StingRay was completed on 8/04/9. The VSB was standard with a black pickguard at that time. I also show your bass as having a 2 EQ system and a rosewood fretboard.
