Sys welcome to the Forum! and local at that! Congrats on your first Music Man guitar, you made a good choice, the Silo 20ths are nice. They are the first non-BFR guitar that we installed the mahogany tone block in. Yours was built on 06/30/06.

I would like to know the birth day of my Luke I bought it new back in the 90s at A____M____ in Bellvue WA. Just not real sure when. This was my first real guitar that I actually put up my own money for from my first real job. I have played several thousands of gigs with it. It has been re-fretted twice and I just had it PLEK-ed again a few months ago. This guitar was built extremely well, the Floyd it came with is also a tank and stays in-tune despite the abuse it takes. It is the one of most versatile guitars that I have. Thanks for building a great guitar.
The Serial is 95242
Thanks,
David

David, welcome to the Forum. Your Pearl Red Luke was built on 05/11/94 and was indeed sent to American Music in Seattle (it's OK to speak the name)

Hi David..I will be honest i am new here too but if this is a 6 bolt on neck and no *G* in front of serial i was told by a guy that the first 2 numbers are the year. I know i had a 1990 Silhouette that Dan on here dated and i bought 4 years later from the guy that originally had the guitar and he told him the same thing i am telling you pretty much and that the guitar was a 1990 as the serial number said. But i could be wrong. If i'm right, then the guitar is a 1995..where it came from and all is what one of Ernie Balls customer reps tell you in the forum here. Just trying to help. Wish i knew the year of my steve morse model, still waiting.

guitarace, just to let you know - there are always those who will try to crack the "code" of our serial numbers - but there really is and was no such thing except on the very earliest Silhouettes that had the numbers on the back of the headstock in the 80's and even that was not completely 100% with the year. By the time the 90's rolled around and we were stamping the serial numbers into the neck plates, there was no sort of attempt to keep the year in the serial number. Any time it happened was pure coincidence. We organized them by the type of guitar that it was - EVH's started with 8, and most other guitars with a 9. Basses used 2-5 on the first number of the serial number.

What is the serial number of your Steve Morse? So that we can tell you when it was built .... ;)

My first Music Man :)

Silhouette Special
Ser. #G28325

Any info appreciated. I'm particularly interested in the year it was made and knowing if there are any structural or electronic differences between this one and a 2009 model. Thanks!

Phydoh, welcome to the Forum and congratulations on your first Music Man! Your Silhouette Special was built on 5/10/05 and was shipped to Spencer's Music Room in Olathe, KS. There aren't any differences between your guitar and the ones we're doing now.

I purchased a new JP6 in Pearl White with piezo, and matching headstock from Musician's Friend on 10/05/09. It arrived today, and is absolutely stunning. I do not miss the Custom JP Shields on this piece as the rosewood has a reddish hue to it. Very classy looking and maybe my new favorite color. The build label states: 09/21/09. The new pickups sound amazing. A bit warmer and full. All the best! Thanks!

No problem -

G11983 - 9/8/2000, Honeyburst Silhouette rosewood
G39071 - 9/25/2009, Dargie 2 JP with piezo

Nice - thanks for sharing!

Dan

Thanks Dan! But are you sure about the Silo? It's not a honeyburst, it's a natty...

About as sure as I can be ... for two reasons. One, that's what the information in the computer database is telling me - and two, we have never offered the Silhouette in a natural finish - have you had it since new? I am thinking a serious fade or a refinish here ...

Very interesting, thanks for the information. You must be right... it must be a refinish... This is just plain wood! But I'm really digging it. I'll post pictures soon. Thanks again!

I'm betting this one went to that particular store for the 25th Anniversary tour, but I could be wrong. It says some things I've never seen on an EBMM box. It says "PO #418592-06 Attn: Vince Mattigs!" I think that particular Vince is one of the managers there. Vince apparently wants that store to be the biggest EBMM seller amongst the Michigan GCs.

Unfortunately, I didn't make that event, but I'm happy Detroit got one of those events. It would certainly be cool if Luke, Morse, or BP played it, but I doubt it.
