Your guitars have changed my life

Well, I'm proud to report that you guys have changed my life. Since getting my Petrucci one week ago, I have deduced that EBMM makes the perfect guitar, and I want more. I may even part with my prized Parker Fly to pay off another one....... Any suggestions as to what would be a good second EBMM for a rock/metal player with a fully loaded Petrucci? No locking trems please.

hehe welcome to the addiction. I recommend listening to John Denner (plays an Axis) and Dwells (Luke and 25th). Both of these guys give really good examples of what the individual guitars do from a rock/metal perspective. Personally I decided to go with a Y2D for the versatility (and i wanted a locking trem).

Morse. Y2D or a Regular model.
25th Anniversary, Axis Super Sport and Luke will fit the bill as well

I would suggest visiting a local dealer and trying as many as you can and decide what has the best fit, feel, and sound for your personal style of playing.

Hard to say with all the great models available. The Morse, the Luke, Axis, the 25th are all great models that compliment the JP. Each one has it's own character and each one can do any genre with ease.

Rock/metal - personally, I would lean to the Axis or the 25th.

First and formeost, I would try the BFR Petrucci - to me it was the perfect accompanement to the standard Pet. Now if I only still had my standard JP7...

i hate double locking tremolo, they get in the way of my picking.
My next purchase will be Axis SS, with piezo option. They play like a dream and offer a different neck to the Petrucci, more meat and chunkier but still fast as hell.

Everyone will give you a different opinion here, but the truth is any other EBMM is every bit a nice as the JP.

I personally will suggest a Silhouette for the lighter rock stuff, while keeping the 24 frets and adding some strat sounds. You could go hardtail for added sustain and drop tunings...

i know you said u didnt want a locking trem . but i would suggest you really check out the axis. really good for the type of stuff you play. you can whale on it and it just gives u so much back . and i think you will find you love the axis neck even more than the jp.
otherwise go for a axis ss there not locking and pretty much the same guitar . the ss gives u a bit more tonal options with the various pickup selctions. then theres the luke which is fantastic also. i think youll find theres to much choice.

If I remember correctly, you lived in Canada and it was not easy to Test Drive any gear ??

That being said, if you were willing to try a different, I vote for an Axis Super Sport. The pickups will give you the tones you are looking for. On YouTube, listen/watch John Denner !!

BUT.......I have not tried some of the other gear people are talking about.

Listen to a guitar solo done by Steve Morse....."The Well Dressed Guitar". Can be found under .......Deep Purple "Live at the Rotterdam Ahoy". That is a good indication of Morse tone (in my book).

Luke-wise. ANYTHING. Wow.

Axis SS makes a perfect partner to the JP My ASS has mm90's which sound amazing! but I'm dying to try out an ASS with HB's.. ORRR you could wait until the BP AL is released and grab one of those.
