I have been in contact with Ernie Ball and have inquired into the possibility of a short scale model being produced. What is the general consensus? Do you think there is a market for a short scale model?

"Is there a market" isn't really the question. Some guy named Randall in Oregon would buy one. The real question is, "Is there enough of a market to justify the R&D, production space, marketing, space on retail walls?"

You'll get a better-informed answer soon enough, but it's hard for me to see a short scale at this point (or any point, for my uses).

It is, if you think of it as a bass. But a lot of guys aren't looking at it like a bass. And, if they were, they might think, "Six strings? Oh my, no."

The Silo bass guitar is as it says on the label a "Bass-guitar" in practice you'll hear a blend of guitar & bass sound. As I've shared on past Silo bass posts it will not get the deep notes of a longscale bass but it does have a unique special sound.

To fully access the Silo bass charms best to free your mind a little and accept it as neither a bass nor a guitar, but having a corner to itsself.

Good question...I just dont think that there is enough of a market for us to do one...we would have by now if it was there...WE get more abuse for not going longer scale length on our 5ers

Isn't it the general view that MM 5stringers are the best 34" scale basses produced?

I have verrry little experience with 5 strings - but the Bongo and Stingray 5 strings I've played had a better B than the 35 I used to own. (Thinking about it, I hated that bass)
