My main gigging setup is a Peavey 5150 Combo, with a Boss Super Overdrive into the Low Gain input. In the effects loop, I'm running a Boss Delay, a Boss Chorus, and a BBE Sonic Stomp. This configuration allows me to get some pretty good clean tones on the crunch channel with the crunch button out, while still producing some face-melting gain in the lead channel. The crunch channel in conjunction with the Super Overdrive gives you some great classic rock, almost Marshally tones. I just love the way this particular amp sounds with the EBMM/EVH or Axis.

My at-home practice setup bounces between a Peavey Vyper 15, and a Line 6 GuitarPort.

I used to have a 5150 combo, what a monster that amp was, the clean/crunch channel really was the hidden jewel of that amp I thought.

I just couldn't handle the 90+ lbs. that amp weighed, mine had been modded by Harry Kolbe and he either beefed up the transformer or added another one, making an already extremely heavy amp that much more unwieldy!

I am using a Line 6 Vetta I HD(converted to a Vetta II) into 2 Beringer 4X12 cabinets for all the electric guitar sides of things. I run the split signal for the piezo acoustic into a Line 6 POD X3 Live direct into the house.

Josh, that weight IS very known problem with 5150, thought it is great amp. But that Marshall JVM 410C ain´t so light, too... :)

I don´t understand why there´s no combo version of 5150 Mark III, newest EVH amp. They say that sound if it is GREAT!

Fender Blues Jr. with a Damage Control Solid Metal distortion in front. I bring it to an amp-only conversation because I use it more as an alternative channel (and +30dB boost) preamp than a distortion effect.

Been a long time since I've tried/heard a JVM 410 so I really can't say unfortunately. I will say the 5150III sounded alot beefier than the Peavey series.

My main amp is an Ampeg VH140CH half stack - cab w/ Eminence Red Coats (a mix of The Governor and Private Jack - 2 of ea.)
I also mix the Ampeg w/ a Roland AC60 for the piezo out on my JP6

I tried a 5150 III thru the matching 412 cab when I was in Amsterdam with a JP6 with the original pups and it sounded awesome. For balls to the wall type playing, it was as good as my Mk V just I don't think it had the variety of tones in each channel like the Mark does. But what I did hear of it sounded awesome.

Coincidently, I love the 5150 III, it has one of the best gain out of any amp i ever heard. Mark Vs are great too. These are definitely on my list for next amp purchase, although I'm very happy with my Randall RM100 and RM50 set up right now, the MTS modules are great for getting any tone and modify it to fit your needs.

Soldano SLO-100 with Depth control and 100w/50w toggle. The JP and Gold Roller sound perfect with this amp!
