I while ago I got a great deal on an ex demo Albert Lee.
See thread http://www.ernieball.com/forums/mus...post-id-like-introduce-you-my-new-guitar.html
It had 2 deep scratches on the back of the body and I wanted to repair them as effectively as possible without having a respray. I polished out quite a bit of the damage using Brasso
followed by some finishing compound to get the micro scratches out when using the Brasso.
I went on the inter web and found a company called guitarscratchremover.com and read about their product. I thought... "give it a go". So I ordered on line and waited for the parcel ... ... and waited ... and waited then I contacted the company asking where it was? They said that they had had some staffing problems, apologised and upgraded my order free of charge to the "players kit".
Anyways the package arrived today and I tried it out.
Now I'm not one for giving accolades when they are not due. I'm not "the kings new clothes" type of person who eulogises over an improvement that isn't there!!
So how did I get on?
Fantastic!!!
My Luthier mate said that the scratches were quite deep and to leave them as I could rub down the top coat too much.
I had Two pots of the stuff delivered today - a blue label pot which should be used if the red label stuff doesn't quite "cut it".
The results are very very good and if you looked at the back of the guitar you will not see them. You have to really look close and turn the guitar all directions to see the remnants of the scratches.
I also tried it on the pic guard and you could see the red of the tort on the cloth - however use it on the top coat and you see nothing on the cloth (yeah I know it's a clearcoat and you wouldn't see anything
) but it left no micro swirls or haze in the finish. Fingerprints don't seem so bad - black guitars are notorious for showing 'prints as you know.
Would I recommend it - would I buy it again?
Yes I would! A good product.
I will try and post some pics before and after - battery is dead on the camera and I don't know if the scratches will show on the pictures.
