do you wear your bass? Since getting a bongo I like the bass lower on the strap. I'm going to have to use 2 straps if I switch to my stingray. Does anyone else have to do this?

When I got the 11 lbs 79 Ray a year ago I ordered a fine, broad leather strap.
The bass hangs a little lower than the others but I like it. Funny thing, I can't wear the Brownie bass as low. The difference might be one or one and a half inch.

It's a matter of personal preference of course and what feels comfortable. It also depends on what style you're playing: slap, fingerstyle, or *gasp* pick (not me!).

I highly, highly recommend Comfort Straps for MM basses. They take the load off better than any other strap I've ever used. Just make sure to get the right size (I actually find the "short" one most comfortable). They are easy to buy on Amazon.

The "neck bolt plate" is exactly at the top of my pants (waist-line) when I have any of my basses strapped on. Having long arms for my height (5'9") this works best for me. When I was younger (I'm 51) I used to "wear" my basses higher. The height I currently use allows me to keep my arms/wrists reasonably straight and I find it to be quite comfortable. I also think that visually, this height looks good; not too high, not too low.
My avatar shows me playing my original Bongo 5 HH at this height.

I wear my stingray quite high in comparison to my other basses. neck plate at about my belly button. My other basses I wear a lot lower, usually on the last stop of the strap. But then I am 6 foot and about 220 lbs so there is a lot of circumference to account for too.

My stingray seems to of got higher and higher up over the years, Ive got the neck plate just above my belt line so that it sits nice and comfortable , I'm another 6ft+ person too :)

I have short arms and small fists & fingers, so I must wear any bass pretty high to reach whole fret board positions!

Anyway, just for example, I set up my strap when sitting on the standard chair and put my bass over my right leg (upper part, don't know in English  ), so when is comfortable to play in that sitting position, set up a strap and just rise, ...and this is it! ;)

seems we look similar...;)

Somebody once made a comment along the lines of most good bass players are ether tall or on the stocky side. Something about having the "equipment" to get the job done? the really great ones are usually both tall and stocky or just morbidly obese.
I dont know but guitar just feels too dainty to me. I can play it but its not as fun.
I do miss my first bass strap I bought in the early 80s, they dont make them long like that anymore. But my wrist has gotten a lot better since I stopped doing the Ramones thing!

This is not a good sign; I'm 5'9" and 142 lbs!
