Try the search button on the Dargie Delight. So, in a nutshell I will spell it out.

BP said green guitars/basses don't sell. Then they put out the Dargie Delight with the martini glass inlays to see how it would do. Basically, after all the begging and pleading of the knuckleheads here. About as close to a forum based guitar/bass you will get.

A lot of peeps bought the Dargie Delight. I will admit to passing on the first run as cool as they are. (I believe I was one of the first non-EBMM types to get my hands on it at Summer NAMM). I just don't like green instruments.
Not sure of the numbers, but, I believe they were posted on the forum. Again, search button will help you out there.

Funny thing is....I have a Dargie Delight 2 JP6. I happen to like this green instrument. It is my "go to" guitar....funny how I don't like green guitars...

So, the attraction is like anything else. You might like red guitars. I personally don't. To each his own. The Dargie caused quite the stir here....and it was a cool thing to see develop from beginning to end.

Really, if you don't like it...move to the one you do.

Koogs...I'm with you man. I HATED green...until I saw both the DD1 and DD2.
I've been tempted to sell my trans gold ray to buy another single H DD1 or 2.

... and that they symbolize the dedication of the company and its leadership to -US- ... the customer... and -US- the Knuckledheads.

Seeing those close up shots is the first time I ever noticed the green olive in the martini....that's so Cool!!!!

This thread made me pick up my Dargie Delight One which I hardly play. Despite the worn, three year old flats (a gift from Dargin himself), it still surprises me how good a Bongo sounds. I dare say it is probably my best sounding bass. It also reminds me that BP and EBMM gives a $#!+ about me.

I think a big part of the attraction is the limited numbers produced. Once the run is finished, the thrill of the hunt is trying to find one for sale in mint condition at a price that won't put you in the poor house.

Not too long ago a Sterling 4HS Dargie came on to the market in my city. The guy was looking to do a trade, so we discussed what the terms were going to be, he was cool with my bass, so I was all set to go ahead with the deal... actually I was very excited about the whole thing- just the idea of getting a limited production bass got my blood pressure up, despite the fact that I wasn't terribly keen on the color.

Unfortunately, the guy changed his mind and started asking for the moon. So I politely said 'thanks but, no thanks'.

But I was pretty fired up about getting that bass, and I think that if it had been just a regular run of the mill Sterling in a colour that I didn't particularly like, I wouldn't even have contacted the guy...(not that there's anything regular or run of the mill about any Sterling... I haven't found anything that can even compare to my two EBMMs!).

Human nature I guess.

You're probably right, but it's funny that I see more pictures of Music Man in that color than any other. I just haven't seen one in real life yet.

+1

I read through this thread and love it - Boogie Man you're sailing so close to the wind on this forum suggesting the Dargie Delight is anything but the holy grail of colours here - I'm sure people have been banned over Dargie Delight in the past ;) I much prefer blue dawn myself lol.

I pass a nice little Ford Fiesta every morning on the way to work and I'm sure it's in Dargie Delight green or something very similar - anyway it makes me think if a Bongo ever comes up for sale in that colour..................

Having seen the pics of Olis Ray, make it unlined fretless HHP and that would be super cool :D ....... but is there such a bass in DD???

Since the Dargie has reached the status of Unobtainium then it just follows that folks who managed to score one will show them off every chance they get.

No. The StingRay HH is not available with piezo at all. Except you're talking Bongo. Then there could be one (as in "exactly 1") around. But nobody on the forum has seen it yet. Maybe it's just myth.

From the production number report, it looks like three Bongo 5 HSP were made, but no HHP.

I still have hope! There are 3 HSp's! I wonder if any of them are blank planks.... :)

I too would love to have a Dargie 1 again but am holding out for a fiver.

Wonder if there will be a Dargie 3 series in the future? I'm in ....
