I went into Guitar Center today with the intention of purchasing a new guitar. I've never played a EBMM guitar before. On the wall there were three JP models, one JPX black sugar, a regular JPX with the purple barolo(sp?) finish and a JP6 in turquoise with a roasted maple neck. I played all three and really didn't like the JPX's 5 way switching or the overall feel of the guitar. The JP6 seemed to play effortlessly and honestly I think it's the most comfortable guitar I have ever played, so I got it. (traded in a Warwick bass that I never use anymore and got a 15% off coupon so I paid about $1600 for the new guitar)

I also played a PRS; I've never played any of their models before, and I was very disappointed. The one that I played had a very thick neck that I couldn't get comfortable playing. I also tried an EBMM Axis but after owning a floating bridge guitar before I didn't want to have to deal with the tuning issues (even if the Axis is a stable guitar.) I really didn't like the neck on the Axis either.

I am extremely happy with my purchase, I think it's the best guitar I have ever played and I thank all those who contributed in my thread comparing the JPX to the JP6, I picked the right one!

...And an awful picture of the guitar!

I may be able to borrow a decent camera tonight, I'll try to get some better pictures.

EDIT:

I seem to be having issues with the piezo switch. Here's a video detailing my problems:

The magnetic pickups seem to still be active in both the middle and upper positions on the piezo. I'm using a mono cable into the mono output.

GREAT purchase!!! LOVE that color. The axis is a not floating bridge but the JP you have is a floater :) No worries though. I have had both of those models and the tuning is rock solid - they both have locking :)

Welcome to the forums great bunch of people here. Cant wait to see what your second ebmm is ;) and we all know you have already contemplated it ... ha ha

Oops, I didn't even use the trem on the axis but now I know it's dive only, thanks!

Are those regular (not the JPX-6 Roasted) JP6's - turquoise w/roasted made for GC - an item that can be ordered thru guitar center, or were they a limited production?

I went to the Guitar Center in Towson, Maryland.

Could someone please explain to me how the piezo/magnetic switch works? From what I understood there were three options, magnetic only, magnetic/piezo blend, and piezo only? It seems that when I'm on the piezo only option I can still switch between the neck and bridge pickup to alter the sound. Am I completely confused here?

I'm not sure. I got a flyer from GC that had a JPX with the same color and roasted neck, but my guitar only has a three toggle switch.

If your "top" toggle switch is in the up position (piezo only), your "bottom" toggle SHOULDN'T make any difference in the sound whatsoever. If you have that "top" toggle in the middle position, then all pickups are on and the "bottom" toggle will indeed change the sound. Also, be sure you're plugging in to the Piezo/mono output and NOT the magnetic/stereo one (this output does NOT allow for the piezo pickups to work). And. . . That piezo system is UNBELIEVABLE!!!!!!!!!! Especially when using an acoustic amp and an electric amp using BOTH outputs!!!
