I'm a happy boy. Look at what was waiting for me after work.

A brand new sparkley monster with a roasty tooth.

And a sweet ebony board

The tone is so rich. I'm a happy (old man) boy!

Thanks gang! I set it up this morning, slapped some EB flats on her and used my clear PG to see what it would look like with some fancy paper. I like the original black PG but this paper added a nice touch of style.

This shot picked up some of its sparkle in the body paint. It weighs in at 9.0 lbs, which is great. I've got a gig tonight where she'll make her first (of many) appearances.

Congratulations on the new bass. I also have a Roasted Bongo 4H and love it too. I'm sure you will have many hours of fun playing that thing. They are definite keepers.

OldManMusic, ...congrats!

Wow, ...single H in this BFR roasted color combo looks out of this world! :)
And look at that neck, ...fantastic!
Please leave black PG! (if You really wanna contrast, go for white pearloid, goes well with BFR inlay)

I would really like to try that one, ...it's 3 band EQ, right?

Congrats one more time! ;)

Keko - yes, its the 3 band EQ. This is my second Bongo 4H and I just love the tone. There is just something about them... it's got some serious mojo and makes me be a better bass player. For the pickguard, white pearloid would look great, I just like making it look different for each show. With a clear pickguard, I can do that pretty easily.

I used my new tone-beast last night at a gig. We normally play indoors at this place but they had us set up in the patio (it was a beautiful evening here in Colorado). For the first 2 songs I couldn't hear myself at all and couldn't figure out what was going on with the sound. I kept turning up my MB amp and checking the soundboard but it still sounded weak. I kept thinking it was because we were outside. Midway through the 3rd song, I realized the bass EQ knob on the Bongo was all the way down. Guess I had bumped it after soundcheck. When I brought the bass EQ knob up to the center detent, the thunder roared, the pint glasses rattled, the toes started tapping, a woman went into labor and a waitress winked at me. From there on, it was a joy to play and hear.

If you knuckleheads have never gotten your hands on a single H Bongo, find a way to do it. BP and the gang created something amazing with that configuration.
